She was an owner-surrender, and she was surrendered along with a litter of puppies she just had. The puppies went into foster when they were old enough and now Athena is looking for a home of her own! She tested positive for heartworm and was treated for 30 days. She did fantastic with her crate rest, never soiled her crate and never chewed or destroyed anything. She has never been tested with other dogs, cats or kids, but her foster doesn't see any reason why she would have a problem with any of them. She is a very calm and mellow girl. She is very easy on a leash and is a low energy dog. She also rides great in a car. She is a great dog. She's been in a foster home but is now back at Friendship ready for immediate adoption. This is what Nora's loving foster mom had to say about her:"Nora walks well on a leash - she loves walks and car rides, too! She is a bit of a DIVA, so no pet beds are necessary for this girl. She prefers the sofa for lounging and sleeping on your bed at night :). This gal is a great snuggle buddy when watching TV, playing on the computers or just hanging out. She LOVES her food. Nora goes into her crate when she's scared or not feeling well. She kennels up when we tell her to, but we only use it when we leave the house. She can be trusted in the house. Nora gets along fine with my male dog. I was hoping my female would like her because we love Nora so much, but that isn't going to happen. Nora tolerates cats that do not try to rub in her face. It took her about a week to lose interest in our cats. This girl loves to play! She would probably do best with kids that are older as she growls when she plays hard and it might scare younger kids. Nora doesn't seem to be used to a yard. She rarely explores after doing her business, but then again, it has been raining every day for weeks. I was told she was allergic to fleas, so I went ahead and put a Seresto collar on her. Because he was a transfer in, we do not know much about his history before he came here. He is a playful and energetic dog who would benefit from an active family. He is pretty strong on a leash, but if you like big goofy dogs Storm is your guy! He settles very well once he's in one of the pens, he loves tennis balls and takes treats nicely. Don't let how he is on a leash fool you - he is very sweet and gentle and loves to cuddle! Storm keeps a clean kennel, too. He is the longest resident and it really is a mystery why he hasn't been adopted. Sammy arrived at Friendship Animal Protective League on Nov. 14, 2017. He is in the cattery and does well with the other cats. Sammy used to really not like dogs and would run to the door of the cattery when a dog would go by. He has chilled out and rarely reacts to a dog any more. Sammy is a character! He really is a nice cat and will greet you and likes to be petted. One Christmas is one too many for Sammy to be in shelter. We can't make it two! Spend some time with Sammy and see if you can be the one to make his dream of having a home for the holidays come true. Kittens under a year old are $60 and cats over a year are only $25. Senior cats (8 years and up) are FREE for people 60 years and up.
