Lorain County Democratic Women elect officers for 2027

The Lorain County Democratic Women this week announced their newly elected officers for the 2027 term. Latoska Price of Avon will serve as president, joined by Debora Bradley of Lorain as vice president, Nicara Garcia of Lorain as treasurer and Charlesetta Brown and Kimyata Hawthorn, both of Lorain, as trustees according to a news release. Lorain County Democratic Party Chair Sharon Sweda facilitated Tuesday's election. She paid tribute to outgoing President Inez James on the conclusion of her six years of service, according to a news release. "Latoska is a proven and dedicated Democratic leader who has served as the Avon Democratic Vice-Chair and campaign manager for local and county campaigns," Sweda said. "The Lorain County Democratic Women will be well-served by her leadership." "I am honored to step into this role and build on the incredible foundation laid by President James," Price said in the news release. "Lorain County is full of strong, committed Democratic women, and together we will continue expanding our reach, strengthening our voice, and supporting candidates who reflect our values." James saw the organization expanded from a city-based club to a countywide one, along with increased membership that saw the club host a regional conference and a National Federation of Democratic Women's Conference while raising funds and resources for local Democratic candidates, Sweda said in the news release. "Inez James has led this organization into the powerful and active group that it has become," Sweda said. "She and I worked closely together, always respecting each other's lane but agreeing to put party and outcome first. We stood united regardless of personal preference." The Lorain County Democratic Women is an arm of the county Democratic Party, working to elevate women's leadership, strengthen community engagement and support Democratic candidates across the county. Meetings are held on the first Tuesday of each month. For more information, visit loraincountywomendems.com.
