Elyria man arrested after two bank robberies in one day

An Elyria man is in custody after police say he robbed a bank in Elyria and attempted to rob a bank in Lorain on Thursday morning. In a news release on Thursday, Elyria Police Capt. Bill Lantz said the department had taken Daniel Lewis Brock, 37, of Elyria into custody after he was arrested in Cleveland. Brock is accused of robbing at the KeyBank location on West River Road North on Thursday morning. In the release, Lantz said investigators believed that Brock was also connected to a robbery at the Chase Bank on Fairless Avenue in Lorain earlier in the day. Elyria police were called to KeyBank at 9:22 a.m. During the investigation, police said that they learned a white male had entered the bank, said that he was armed with a gun and demanded money from a bank teller. The suspect fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of money, and no injuries were reported. Lantz said that investigators identified Brock as the suspect and issued an alert regarding him. According to the release, Cleveland police located Brock at around 11 a.m. on the 2200 block of Broadview Road in the city. Brock ran into a residence when he saw officers, but was arrested trying to escape through a window. Cleveland police handed custody of Brock over to Elyria police, who charged him with aggravated robbery, a felony, and transported him to the Lorain County Jail pending his initial court appearance. The investigation is ongoing, and Lantz said police believe Brock is connected to an attempted bank robbery at the Chase Bank in Lorain earlier on Thursday. Lorain police confirmed the incident was under investigation, but had not provided further details Thursday. It is unclear if Brock successfully received any money during the attempted robbery in Lorain.
