Five programs in Lorain County to share $930,000 in OneOhio Recovery Foundation grants

The OneOhio Recovery Foundation has awarded $3 million to 18 regional substance abuse treatment and recovery programs and projects, including nearly $930,000 to five programs serving Lorain County. Officials said the projects will save lives, prevent addiction, expand access to treatment, support recovery and strengthen communities in OneOhio Region 19, which includes Lorain, Medina, Ashland, Erie, Huron, Richland and Wayne counties. Local grant recipients were: - Lorain County Public Health: $278,252 for the Lorain County Collective Impact Initiative, which will increase capacity and service delivery for families and youth at risk in Lorain County. - Riveon Mental Health and Recovery: $201,106 to help provide transportation to Riveon clients and their children, which is often a barrier to getting services. - The Road To Hope Inc.: $200,000 to support its Trinity House secure recovery center in Columbia Township for women, and women with children, who have substance use disorders. - Horizon Education Centers: $149,952 to support PAX Training in evidence-based prevention strategies to reduce substance misuse. Horizon serves Lorain, Cuyahoga and Erie counties. - Let's Get Real Inc.: $99,000 for Recovery Ride, providing reliable rides paired with certified peer recovery support for those in recovery in Lorain and Huron counties. The OneOhio Recovery Foundation is a non-profit, charitable organization created by the state to distribute money the state received from settlements with the pharmaceutical industry for its role in the national opioid epidemic. "These grants represent another important step in putting OneOhio's settlement funds to work in communities across the state," Alisha Nelson, executive director of the OneOhio Recovery Foundation, said in a news release. "These projects reflect the comprehensive approach needed to address the impact of addiction in our communities," Nicole Williams, OneOhio Region 19 Board Chair, said in the news release. "From giving young people the skills and support to prevent substance use before it starts, to removing barriers to treatment and strengthening recovery services, these investments will help people and families at every stage."
