H.S. Football Roundup: Midview holds on to beat North Olmsted, improves to 2-0

GRAFTON — Midview rallied after a tough start then made a big stop at the end to get past North Olmsted 28-26 on Friday night in non-conference action. The Middies (2-0) took a 21-20 lead on a 64-yard touchdown run by Jace Wright with 8:10 left. A 25-yard touchdown pass from Brennen Newton to Kellen DeSimone gave the Middies a 28-20 lead with 3:48 left. But North Olmsted scored with 42 seconds left. The 2-point try for the tie was stopped. Newton and DeSimone hooked up earlier for an 8-yard TD to cut the deficit to 20-15. Wright also had a 3-yard touchdown run. The Middies fumbled on the first play, and North Olmsted scored on its first play. Brush 21, North Ridgeville 14 NORTH RIDGEVILLE — Cole Allison scored twice, but North Ridgeville gave up a late touchdown. Lawrence Moore's 15-yard touchdown run with less than three minutes left proved to be the winner, capping an 88-yard drive. The Rangers (0-2) got to Brush's 20-yard line, but a final pass into the end zone fell incomplete. Allison caught an 87-yard touchdown pass from Braden Harrison and had a 70-yard kickoff return for a score to tie it at 14 in the third quarter. Brush's special teams played a pivotal role. Carlton Avant recovered a fumbled punt snap and returned it 17 yards for a touchdown with 34 seconds left in the first half, and Mike Dennis blocked a field goal. Columbia 42, Fairview 6 FAIRVIEW PARK — The Raiders ran off 42 straight points after trailing 6-0. Logan Menge threw a 60-yard touchdown pass to Ambrose Beach and blocked a punt that was returned for a touchdown by Wes Sanders. Big plays were the story of the game, as Peyton Liedtke had a 90-yard run and Xavier Hendon a 50-yarder.
