Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 23 endorses Dr. Amy Acton, Democrat for Ohio governor

Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 23, headquartered in Amherst and representing seven chapters across Ohio, endorsed Dr. Amy Acton's Democratic campaign for governor Tuesday. The union cited Acton's commitment to lowering costs for Ohioans, investing in apprenticeship programs across Ohio and creating good-paying union jobs across the state. The union's endorsement is the latest of at least 20 Ohio labor endorsements Acton has received. "It's a simple decision for us to make. There has been a continual effort to undermine working people and their fundamental right to collectively bargain. Any candidate who stands in opposition to that right — whether in the public or private sector — will never earn the support of the Bricklayers & Allied Craftworkers Local 23," Danny Musacchio, president of the Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers Local 23, said in a news release. "We lead this union with one guiding principle in every decision we make: Will this decision better the lives of our members? I can confidently say that endorsing Dr. Amy Acton will do just that." Acton, whose running mate for lieutenant governor is David Pepper, said she was "humbled" to receive the union's support. "As governor, I will prioritize investments in apprenticeship programs, the creation of more good-paying jobs across Ohio, and bringing down costs for working families," Acton said in a news release. Acton and Pepper are facing the Republican ticket of Vivek Ramaswamy and Rob McColley in November. The election is Nov. 3.
