Geraldine Lewis

With profound sadness and sorrow, we announce the peaceful passing of Geraldine Lewis, 57, on Friday, February 20, 2026, after courageously battling Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), also known as Lou Gehrig's disease, for over nine remarkable years. Following her high school graduation at Admiral King High School in 1988, Geraldine pursued her passion at the Northern Institute of Cosmetology, where she earned her cosmetology license and flourished in her profession for many years before transitioning to a fulfilling career in medical administration with Mercy Health Partners in Lorain, Ohio. Her dedication eventually led her to the Cleveland Clinic, where she worked tirelessly until her disability inspired her to take an early yet well-deserved rest. Geraldine will be eternally remembered for her radiant smile that brightened even the darkest moments. With unwavering faith and determination, she faced her terminal illness with courage and conviction, spreading joy and laughter wherever she went, effortlessly turning anyone's worst day into their best. A devoted member of the Church of Christ, specifically Lake and Walnut Church of Christ, 1101 Lake Ave., Elyria, Ohio. Geraldine is preceded in death by her father, Leroy Cato; her mother, Lottie L. Cato; her sister, Cathaleen Cato-Scott; and brothers, Darnell Lewis and Jerome Lewis. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories with her sister, Dinah Clayton; brother, Benjamin (Monique) Lewis; sister, Jennifer Corbin; and sister, Terri (Amy) Arendt; along with a multitude of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, and friends. In a final act of selfless devotion, Geraldine made an extraordinary gift by donating her body to the medical students at the Cleveland Clinic Lerner College of Medicine, extending her legacy of kindness and contributing to the advancement of ALS research and treatment. A memorial service will be announced at a later date, giving friends and family an opportunity to celebrate her life and legacy.
