15-year-old injured, four 18-year-olds charged with shooting in Lorain

LORAIN — A 15-year-old boy was injured in a shooting on West Ninth Street Monday evening. Lorain police responded to the 300 block of West Ninth Street around 8:30 p.m. for a report of a 15-year-old with multiple gunshot wounds. On arrival, police found a Honda Accord with a broken window and blood on the driver's seat and center console parked outside a home. Officers found the teen and an adult family member inside the house. The teen, who said he was driving the Accord at the time of the shooting, sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was transported to University Hospitals - Rainbow Babies and Children's Hospital in Cleveland for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries, according to a news release from Lorain police. The shooting appeared to have happened in the 1300 block of Reid Avenue, according to police. The investigation led officers to a home in the 1700 block of Lexington Avenue, where police found the homeowner's son, Malachi Jackson, 18, along with Braylen Levenhagen, 18, Aarion Chambers, 18 and a 17-year-old who appeared to be involved in the shooting. Multiple firearms, including one confirmed stolen, were recovered from the house. Another suspect, Caleb Crawford, 18, was identified as well. The four 18-year-olds were charged in connection with the shooting. Levenhagen and Crawford were charged with felonious assault; Chambers and Jackson were charged with felony tampering with evidence and receiving stolen property, police said. The shooting appears to be targeted, according to police. The investigation remains ongoing and further charges may be filed.
