Heart & Sole combines storytelling and indoor walking The North Ridgeville Heart & Sole health collaborative invites families to combine storytelling and indoor walking this March. Children ages 2 and older enjoy storytelling sessions with a librarian from the North Ridgeville Library while their parents and guardians walk. Storytime will be offered March 3 and March 5 from 6:15-7 p.m. at North Ridgeville Academic Center, 34620 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville. Indoor walking continues through the spring: - LCCC University Partnership Ridge Campus, 32121 Lorain Road, North Ridgeville Mondays & Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m. Fridays, 8:30-10:30 a.m.Indoor walking ends March 30 - North Ridgeville Academic Center, 34620 Bainbridge Road, North Ridgeville Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6-8 p.m.Indoor walking ends April 30 Enter through door #15 (main entrance) Enter the building's main doors and sign in at the indoor walking table. No cost to participate. All ages and abilities are welcome to attend. If the school or building is closed due to holiday closure or weather, indoor walking is canceled. Check the Heart & Sole Facebook page for updates on closures. Lorain County Farm Bureau sponsors scholarships The Lorain County Farm Bureau is offering scholarships. Applicant's parent/legal guardian or applicants must be a resident of Lorain County, a currentLorain County Farm Bureau member at the time of application and payout. They must be a full-time enrollee of an accredited two- or four-year college, university, or technical school working toward an undergraduate degree. Applicants must show a 2.5-grade point average. A general scholarship, an ag-related scholarship, a continuing education scholarship and the Al DiVencenzo Memorial Scholarship are all available. A major in agriculture or a support field is required for both the ag-related, continuing education and Al DiVencenzo Memorial Scholarships. Multiple scholarships can be awarded. The fillable form is available online on ofbf.org/foundation/scholarships/lorain-county-scholarship/ at lorain.ofbf.org, or by emailing lorain@ofbf.org No handwritten forms will be accepted. Applications must be submitted by 11:59 p.m. March 31. The Joseph Kelly Memorial Scholarship is also available and applications are due by March 31 as well. Lorain Community Music Theater holding auditions Lorain Community Music Theater, celebrating 50 years, is holding auditions from 2-4 p.m. March 1 and 6-8 p.m. March 3 at St. Peter School Gym, Lorain, for "Cinderella, the Enchanted Edition.'' All roles are available. Audition sign-ups are now available at LCMTshows.org. Audition requirements: Prepare a 16-32 bar cut from a song that is similar in style to the show and demonstrates your vocal range. Please bring piano sheet music. An accompanist will be provided. Headshots and resumes are appreciated but not required. There will be no dance call at the initial audition. Callbacks will be March 8. There will be a dance call at callbacks. Public Art Vermilion seeking input Public Art Vermilion, a partner program of Main Street Vermilion, is looking for community input for about art in the city's public space for its 2026 survey. PAV has launched on online survey to collect input on the topic until April 1, earning those who participate a chance to win $100 cash. Today - The American Red Cross blood drive from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Cleveland Clinic Elyria Family Health Center, 303 Chestnut Commons Drive, Elyria. Sunday - The annual Western Reserve Toy and Collectible Show, in its 35th year, will be 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Western Reserve Elementary School, 3851 U.S. Route 20, Collins. The Western Reserve Ruritan Club sponsors the show. So far, 40 vendors from around Ohio have reserved 101 tables. Admission is $3 and children under 12, accompanied by an adult, will be admitted free. There is free parking, and a lunch counter will be available from theHartland New Horizon 4-H Club. The Ruritans use the proceeds from the show to sponsor at least two scholarships for Western Reserve students, and donate to other community needs. Monday - Ethan West will present "Never Too Late: The Buried Stories to the Quincy Gillmore Civil War Round Table,'' at 7 p.m. in Lorain County Community College's iLoft Building, Room 207. West will recount the uncovering of his personal lineage on his paternal side of the family, leading back to a time of enslavement in Haywood County, Tennessee. Tuesday - The College Club of Vermilion will host Marve Smith, a retired lead photographer for NASA Glenn Research Center, at 6:30 p.m. at Ritter Library, Vermilion. The book sale is open to the public. Thursday - In March, Lorain County Historical Society continues its America 250 celebration with "From Ohio to Broadway: Dinner & a Show" at The Hickories Museum. The evening begins with a buffet dinner catered by Fligner's at 5 p.m., followed by a musical program at 6p.m. presented by local entertainer and historian Bette Lou Higgins. Her program highlights Ohio writers and composers whose works have made their way to the Broadway stage, showcasing Ohio's lasting influence on American musical theater. Reservations for the March 5 program are $25 per person and must be made in advance at lchs.org/events. - The Diversity Committee of Grace United Methodist Church in Vermilion will host an education community event titled "Perpetual Bias 101: Definitions and Solutions through the Lens of the Refugee Crisis" at 7 p.m. at the church, 13406 W. Lake Road, Vermilion. The featured speaker will be Vickie Gallagher, who serves as co-director of Cleveland State University's Center for Refugee and Immigrant Success. Gallagher brings extensive experience in research, advocacy, and community engagement focused on refugee and immigrant populations. Her work examines the systemic challenges faced by displaced people and explores practical, community-based solutions that promote inclusion and equity.
