Darlene F. Bruno

Darlene F. Bruno (nee: DeChiaro), 95, passed away Wednesday, January 7, 2026 at Avon Cleveland Clinic Hospital in Avon, Ohio. Darlene was born in Lorain, Ohio on January 4, 1931 to her loving parents, Anthony and Jennie (nee: Rosso) DeChiaro. She graduated from Lorain High School, Class of 1949A. Darlene married John M. Bruno on May 16, 1953 and they started their lives together raising their four children, Tom, John, Barb and Chris. She worked for Lorain National Bank. Darlene was a member of St. Peter Parish in Lorain, St. Peter's Holy Name Society, St. Peter's Senior Group, and was a Founding National Charter Member of the Italian American Veterans (IAV) Post # 1 Auxiliary. Darlene enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, cooking Sunday dinners, reading and traveling. She is survived by her loving children: daughters, Barbara Underwood from New Albany, Ohio and Christine (Dan) Cleary from Denver Colorado; sons, Thomas (Annette) Bruno from Vermillion, Ohio and John (Elizabeth) from Boynton Beach, Florida; grandchildren, John Robert Bruno (JR) (Kristen), Philip DeLong, Derek James Bruno (DJ) (Alice), Tom Bruno (Kristyn), Nicholas Bruno (Alexandra), Elizabeth (Ivy Kabbani) (Sam Caldwell), Catherine Kabbani, Siobhan Cleary, and Natalie Underwood (Gio DiGirolamo); great grandson, Anthony; great granddaughter, Aria; and sister, Joan Wohlever. She was preceded in death by her husband, John; brothers, Joseph and Salvatore DeChiaro; sisters, Fannie Ayrey, Rose Volak, and Tina Catanzarite. The family will receive friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 2150 Broadway, Lorain on Monday, January 12, 2026 from 5 to 8 p.m. Closing prayers will be held at the funeral home Tuesday at 9:20 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, January 13, 2026 at St. Peter Parish, 3655 Oberlin Avenue, Lorain, Fr. Craig M. Hovanec, Pastor, officiating. Christian burial services will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Lorain, Ohio.
