Practice healthy habits in January program The Keystone Empowers You indoor walking program is offering the chance to win a $25 gift card to a local business by completing one healthy habit for 21 of 27 days. The challenge will take place from Sunday through Jan. 30. Each day, the healthy habit focuses on a different part of overall wellness: mental health, physical health or healthy eating. To enter the challenge, visit Keystone Elementary School or LaGrange Village Hall to pick up a calendar. Once you have completed the challenge, bring the calendar back into an indoor walking location, or email a completed copy to KeystoneEmpowersYou@gmail.com by Feb. 6, to be entered into the drawing for a gift card. There is no cost to participate and all ages are welcome to join. The January Wellness Challenge is a part of the KEY indoor walking program. Indoor walking is available four days a week, 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Monday through Thursday, at LaGrange Village Hall, 301 Liberty St., and two days a week, 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday and Thursday, at Keystone Elementary School, 531 Opportunity Way. Indoor walking at Wellington High School Stay warm and active this winter by walking at Wellington High School, 629 N Main St, from 6 to 8 p.m. every Monday and Wednesday from Jan. 5 through April 30. If school is canceled due to weather or a holiday, indoor walking is also canceled. Enter the school through the front doors and sign in at the indoor walking table — be sure to sign the waiver the first time you walk this year. There is no cost to participate. All ages are welcome to attend, as well as people using wheelchairs and strollers. Indoor walking is also available from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Mondays through Fridays at Wellington Village Hall, 115 Willard Memorial Square, for seniors only. Today - Hike by the light of the full moon with the Lorain County Metro Parks. Dress for the weather. Hikes will be 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. at Wellington Reservation and 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at Sandy Ridge Reservation. Register at loraincountymetroparks.com. Tuesday - Learn about Ohio's wildlife with a live animal program from 1:30 to 2:15 p.m. at the Lorain County Metro Parks Carlisle Visitors Center. For all ages, no registration required. - Play games, solve puzzles and have a cup of tea with other adults from 10 a.m. to noon at the Columbia Library branch. - Bring your current crochet, knitting, needlepoint or other craft project to work on while listening to an audiobook together from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Lorain Main Library Puzzles and coloring pages will also be available. - KPop trivia from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the South Lorain Library branch. The winning group will receive a small prize. Ages 12 and older. Wednesday - Dive into the vibrant world of visual storytelling with a discussion group exploring Manga, Manhwa, Donghua, light novels, graphic novels and webcomics from 5:30 to 7 p.m. at the Lorain Main Library. - Preschool Play-Doh party from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the South Lorain Library branch. For preschoolers up to age 5 with their caregivers are invited to play and explore with Play-Doh and make their own to take home. Thursday The Avon-Avon Lake Republican Club will meet at 5 p.m. in Ragan Hall, 1783 Moore Road, Avon, and feature guest speaker Robert Sprague, the Ohio treasurer and now candidate for Ohio secretary of state. Also speaking is former Franklin County Common Pleas and U.S. Immigration Judge Coleen O'Donnell, a candidate for Ohio Supreme Court justice.
