Marjorie Cathelene Neal

Marjorie Cathelene (McDermott) Neal, 87 years of age, and a longtime resident of Vermilion, Ohio, was called home to be with her Lord and Savior Monday, December 1, 2025, at Mill Manor, following a full and meaningful life. Born May 31, 1938, in Cherry Valley, Arkansas, she came to Ohio in 1959 and made her home in Vermilion in 1962, where she lovingly rooted her life and family. A woman of grace, strength, and quiet faith, Marjorie was lovingly described by her family as a true Proverbs 31 woman. She devoted her life to the roles she cherished most - wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother - pouring her heart into caring for those she loved. Marjorie was also richly gifted in many hands-on crafts. She was an accomplished gardener and enjoyed canning a wide variety of fruits and vegetables, filling her home with the simple blessings of her labor. She excelled at sewing, knitting, crocheting, and needlepoint, creating treasured pieces that reflected both her talent and her patience. Her care for others extended far beyond her family. Marjorie was an active volunteer throughout her community, offering her time and compassion at the YMCA, the Salvation Army, and the Vermilion-on-the-Lake Clubhouse. Her dedication was recognized when she received the Volunteer of the Year award for Vermilion, Ohio - an honor that deeply reflected her selfless spirit. Marjorie was a faithful member of Harbortown Community Church, where her quiet kindness and unwavering faith were evident to all who knew her. Marjorie is survived by her children, Teresa (Doug) Nelson, Jeffrey Neal, Rhonda (Jim) Trumbo; eight grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Ronnie Joe McDermott of Illinois and Bill McDermott of Missouri. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-nine years, Billy Kye Neal; her siblings, Lendon, Wade, Lavern, Naomi, Doris, and Lana; and her parents, Noah and Alta Marie McDermott. A celebration of life will be held May 31, 2026 at 2 p.m. at Harbourtown Community Church.
