Elyria brothers indicted on armed robbery, kidnapping charges

Two brothers have been indicted on numerous felony charges in connection with a pair of armed robberies in Elyria. A Lorain County Common Pleas grand jury found probable cause this week to indict Antonio Cook, 20, and Jeremiah Cook, 21, both of Elyria, in a daytime armed robbery behind the McDonald's in downtown Elyria on Oct. 7. Antonio Cook was also indicted in a second armed robbery at a True North gas station in Elyria, which took place in the early morning hours of Oct. 8. In the McDonald's robbery, Jeremiah Cook allegedly lured a man behind the restaurant at 595 Broad St. where police say Antonio Cook pulled a gun on the man and robbed him. Both men were charged with felony aggravated robbery and kidnapping, including firearm specifications stating that Antonio and Jeremiah Cook had weapons on them while committing the offenses. They were also charged with misdemeanor theft. Only Antonio Clark was charged in the True North robbery, indicted on charges of aggravated robbery with a firearm specification and misdemeanor theft. In a release from Elyria police following the arrest of the brothers last month, police said that Antonio Cook was arrested at his grandmother's house on Oct. 9 and confessed to committing both robberies. Police said that the gun used in the robberies was found in the home. Jeremiah Cook was arrested a week after his brother following a traffic stop in Lorain. Elyria police said he admitted to participating in the robbery at McDonald's but denied involvement with the True North robbery. Both brothers are still being held in the Lorain County Jail, with Antonio Cook being held on $200,000 bond and Jeremiah Cook being held on $50,000 bond.
