Dr. Alex and Maria Zolli Living Angel Award nominations being acceptedNominations are being accepted for the Dr. Alex and Maria Zolli Living Angel Award, which is presented annually at the Life Savers Ball to honor an unsung hero in our community to support those touched by cancer. Nominations must be received by Jan. 9. The Life Savers Ball will be March 7 at the Emerald Event Center in Avon. Auditions for 'Same Time Next Year' production Dec.8-9 Workshop Players is having auditions for "Same Time Next Year," to be held 7-9:30 p.m. Dec. 8 and 9 at the theater, 44820 Middle Ridge Road, Amherst. Rehearsals will typically be 7-9:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays until tech week. Rehearsals start Dec. 15, with a break for the holidays and then start again Jan. 5. Scheduling conflicts should be brought to audition; excessive conflicts will affect potential candidates' ability to be cast. Michael Attali will direct. Sunday, Nov. 30 Brownhelm Historical Association Christmas tree lighting at 6:30 p.m. at the historic Brownhelm School and Museum, 1950 N. Ridge Road, Vermilion. Starting at 5 p.m., gather for a fire or inside the museum for refreshments and caroling. Santa arrives at 6 p.m. The Brownhelm Historical Association is collecting items for both a new Little Free Food Pantry to be placed at the Brownhelm Township property as well as once again asking for donations for Road to Hope. Tuesday, Dec. 2 Anime Night from 6:30-7:30 p.m. at the Avon Library branch. For ages 12 and up. Holiday storytime and singalong for age 3 to 5 at 10:30 a.m. at the Elyria Library West River branch. Wednesday, Dec. 3 Parachute play from 10-10:30 a.m. for age 2 to 5 at the North Ridgeville Library branch. A discussion group will explore Manga, Manhwa, Donghua, light novels, graphic novels and WebComics from 5:30-7 p.m. at the Lorain Main Library. Recovery Dharma is a peer-led movement to help those suffering addictions. Meetings are open to all at 7 p.m. each Wednesday at First Church in Oberlin, 106 N. Main St. Oberlin. Children of all ages with their caregivers are invited to enjoy music and stories in both English and Spanish from 11-11:30 a.m. at the Lorain Main Library. Dangerous Toys of the 20th Century: Revisit childhood favorites that were deemed dangerous, leading to injuries, recalls and even the creation of child safety organizations from 5-6 p.m. at the Columbia Library branch. Learn how to make cards using Canva, a free graphic design platform, from 6-7 p.m. at the Lorain Main Library. An active email address and basic mouse and keyboard skills are required. Friday, Dec. 5 Spritz Cookies: The Vintage One-and-Done Cookie Method from 3:30-5 p.m. at the Lorain Main Library. Discuss the history, recipes, cookie presses and baking procedures as well as debate the age-old arguments almond versus vanilla extract and to dye or not to dye. Recipes and examples provided. If you have a cookie press, feel free to bring it. Saturday, Dec. 6 Auditions for the Outside Circle Theater Project's newest production, "Wild Brown Islands," will be held from 1-5 p.m. at the New Union Center for the Arts, 39 S. Main St., Oberlin. No experience is necessary, and all are encouraged to audition. Auditions are by appointment only.
