Daniel 'Dan' Nelson Alspach II, 58, passed away peacefully at his home in Columbus, Ohio on Tuesday, November 4, 2025. Born February 10, 1967, in Texas, Dan grew up in Wellington, Ohio, where he spent most of his life making friends, making people laugh, and giving some of the best haircuts in town.Dan started his career at Dick's Colonial Barber Shop in Wellington before opening his own place, Spach's Barber Shop, where his quick wit, steady hands, and good conversation became local legend. Whether you came in for a trim or just to catch up, you always left with a smile and probably a joke or two you couldn't repeat at the dinner table.In 2013, Dan moved to Columbus, where he continued doing what he did best: enjoying football, food, and family. A lifelong Buckeyes fan, Dan lived for football season and could be found cheering loud enough to make his neighbors wonder if he was on the team. He had a gift for turning even an ordinary Saturday into a celebration filled with laughter, good food, and stories that got better every time he told them.Dan is survived by his children, Danielle (35), Cody (31), Ryan (30), Jeremy (26); his beloved granddaughters, Mia (2) and Kacey (11 months); and his daughter-in-law, Grace.He was preceded in death by his parents, Daniel and Phyllis Alspach, who no doubt welcomed him with open arms and maybe a few jokes of their own.A Celebration of Life will be held Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 12 Noon to 4 p.m. in the Wellington Eagles Club, 631 S. Main St., Wellington, OH 44090. Friends and family are invited to stop by, share stories, and raise a toast to a man who made life brighter, and funnier, for everyone who knew him.
