Lorain Co. Board of Elections announces polling location changes for Election Day

The Lorain County Board of Elections changed a number of Election Day polling locations ahead of the Nov. 4 general election. The board previously mailed 37,030 notification letters to registered voters affected by recent polling location changes, with many changes necessary due to construction at former polling locations. Some changes were due to population growth, as well as others being more centrally located for voters the board said in a news release. Board members reviewed and approved the changes at their Aug. 14 meeting. "Every election we review our polling locations and assess any needs or issues that may have changed since the last election," Board of Elections Deputy Director Jim Kramer said. Voters can search for their precinct and polling location at voteloraincountyohio.gov. Multiple precincts across three cities will vote at the Norton Culinary Arts Center at 1005 Abbe Road N. in Elyria on the campus of Lorain County Community College. Amherst Precincts 2C, 3A and 3B will now vote at the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 1100 Cleveland Ave. Avon Lake Voters in precincts 4-A, 4-B and 4-C are voting in the same physical location, 33119 Electric Blvd., but the church building has a new name: Local Church. Those voters also received letters. Elyria Precints 1B and 1C will vote at the Elyria Public Library Central Branch, 211 Second St. Avon precinct 1C; Elyria precincts 4D, 4E and 7E; and North Ridgeville precincts 1A and 1C will vote at the Norton Culinary Arts Center, 1005 Abbe Road N., Elyria. Lorain Precints 2A, 2B, 2C, 2D and 7B will vote at Admiral King Elementary School, 720 Washington Ave. Precincts 3F, 7A, 7C, 7D, 7E, 7F and 7G will vote at Lorain Lighthouse United Methodist Church, 3015 Meister Road. North Ridgeville Precincts 2A, 2D and 4F have all changed: - Voters in 2A will vote at Cathedral of Life Ministries, 5375 Jaycox Road. - Voters in 2D will vote at St. Julie Billiart Church, 5500 Lear Nagle Road. - Voters in 4F will vote at the North Ridgeville Branch Library, 35700 Bainbridge Road Precincts 4A, 4B and 4C will vote at the LCCC Ridge Campus, 32131 Lorain Road. Precincts 3E and 4G will vote at Fields United Methodist Church, 34077 Lorain Road. Camden Township and Kipton Camden Township and Kipton voters will vote at Camden Baptist Church, 17901 state Route 511, Wellington. Amherst Township and South Amherst Amherst Township precinct 3 and South Amherst voters will vote at North Lake Missionary Baptist Church, 323 N. Lake St. in South Amherst. The board also reminded potential voters of in-person and absentee voting dates, hours and deadlines. Early, in-person voting is available at the Board of Elections offices, 1985 North Ridge Road in Sheffield Township. As of Thursday, the total number of in-person voting and absentee ballot requests was 7,350. Hours for in-person voting from Monday to Nov. 1 will expand to include evenings and the weekend. The Board of Elections is open for in-person voting from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday. The mail-in ballot application deadline is 8:30 p.m. Tuesday (Oct. 28). The Board of Elections offices will be open from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. that day Office hours are from 7:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Oct. 29-31. Upcoming weekend voting hours are from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Nov. 1; and from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Nov. 2. Early voting ends at 5 p.m. Nov. 2. There is no early in-person voting at the Board of Elections on Nov. 3. On Election Day, Nov. 4, voters must go to their designated polling location to cast their ballot. The polls will be open from 6:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. on Election Day. Absentee ballots must be postmarked by Nov. 3, the day before the election, or dropped off in person at the Board of Elections by 7:30 p.m. Nov. 4. Voters can look up sample ballots, polling locations, candidates/issues lists, and other voting/election-related information on the Board of Elections website, voteloraincountyohio.gov.
