Vivek Ramaswamy endorses Jon Husted for U.S. Senate, Husted endorses Ramaswamy for Ohio governor

Vivek Ramaswamy, Republican candidate for governor of Ohio in 2026, on Monday endorsed incumbent U.S. Sen. Jon Husted, R-Upper Arlington, to continue serving in the U.S. Senate. Husted, who was appointed to the U.S. Senate seat from Ohio that was vacated by JD Vance when he was elected vice president of the United States in 2024, must run in a special election in November 2026 to keep the seat. Husted reciprocated and formally endorsed Ramaswamy for governor. In a news release put out by the Husted campaign, Ramaswamy highlighted his and Husted's "shared commitment to economic growth, job creation and preserving the values that make Ohio strong." "I'm proud to back Jon Husted for U.S. Senate," Ramaswamy said. "Jon represents Ohio values, and he is a commonsense leader who I've known for years. He's a fighter for our families and our freedoms, and he'll carry Ohio's voice to Washington without compromise." "Vivek has articulated bold ideas for our state, and I believe his vision for excellence aligns closely with the priorities Ohioans expect and deserve," Husted said in a news release. "I'm proud to endorse my friend Vivek Ramaswamy to be the next governor of Ohio."Husted was lieutenant governor of Ohio under Gov. Mike DeWine when he was appointed to fill Vance's unexpired term. Husted is expected to face former Sen. Sherrod Brown, D-Bexley, who is running to return to the Senate after losing to Bernie Moreno, R-Westlake, in the 2024 election.
