Alleged Elyria dispensary raided for second time in four months

An Elyria woman faces new charges after a second raid in four months at an unlicensed dispensary. According to a news release from Elyria police, officers search Exotic Flower, 1600 Middle Ave., on Monday, finding 12 ounces of suspected marijuana and U.S. currency. Owner Brittany Jackson, 35, was taken into custody and charged with marijuana possession, a fifth-degree felony, and trafficking in marijuana near a school zone, a third-degree felony. The store is less than 1,000 feet south of Hamilton Elementary School. Elyria Municipal Court records indicate Jackson has a preliminary hearing scheduled before Judge Gary Bennett on Wednesday. Jackson already faces five charges related to the initial raid of the facility on April 25, the first raid of its kind in the county, according to Elyria police: Marijuana trafficking, aggravated drug trafficking, possession of marijuana, aggravated possession of drugs and possession of criminal tools. Lorain County Common Pleas Court records state she has waived her right to a speed trial, and a pre-trial hearing is set for Sept. 3. This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
