Historical program The Vermilion Historical Society will present "Vermilion Historic Pics — Part 2," a video narrative of old Vermilion photos and videos at 7 p.m. Aug. 26 at Ritter Public Library. The program is presented in partnership with the Vermilion History Museum and Ritter. Rich Tarrant, curator of the Vermilion History Museum, has collected, researched and written about Vermilion's history for more than 25 years and has thousands of Vermilion photos in his archives. His grandfather, Pearl Roscoe, purchased the Vermilion News in 1900 and published weekly until 1946. For information, email Tarrant at richtarrant@vermilionohio.org. Ritter is at 5680 Liberty Ave. Market in the Park Visit Vermilion's Market in the Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through Aug. 30 in Victory Park, 687 Main St. New vendors and artisans are featured weekly to keep shoppers coming back all summer. Fresh produce, fresh baked goods and artisan-made crafts are available within walking distance of downtown shops, restaurants, and Main Street Beach. For information, visit mainstreetvermilion.org. Free concerts Drop anchor at Main Street Beach in Vermilion for Live at the Lighthouse, a free series of lakeside concerts from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Sundays through August, hosted by Vermilion Chamber of Commerce. Bring a chair and your favorite snacks and listen while the sun sets over Lake Erie. This Sunday Tim Cartwright will perform. Third Thursday Enjoy dozens of free musical acts from bands to solo artists of all genres in historical downtown Vermilion from 5 to 10 p.m. Aug. 21. Visitors may enjoy country, jazz, rock, island, folk, Irish and pop music while strolling, shopping, stopping for ice cream, grabbing dinner, enjoying artworks or simply watching the sunset over Lake Erie at Main Street Beach. Parking is plentiful and free. Car show for charity A Special Wish Car Show is scheduled from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 24 at Amherst Historical Society's Sandstone Village, 763 Milan Ave., Amherst. Attendance is free for spectators and there is free parking with a shuttle from noon to 4 p.m. from Amherst Junior High School, 548 Milan Ave., Amherst. There is a $10 registration fee for car show participants. Car show registration is from 10 a.m. to noon, and the car show will start at noon. Car show registrations should enter the Sandstone Village through Jefferson Village through Jefferson Street to park and register. Dash plaques will be given to the first 150 registrants, and show winners will receive trophies. Door prizes will be given out. Village buildings and shops will be open, and a photo area for registrants. There will be food vendors, raffles and 50/50s.
