Free concerts Drop anchor at Main Street Beach in Vermilion for Live at the Lighthouse, a free series of lakeside concerts from 7-8:30 p.m. Sundays through August, hosted by Vermilion Chamber of Commerce. Bring a chair and your favorite snacks and listen while the sun sets over Lake Erie. This Sunday Tim Cartwright will perform. This Sunday marks the last week of the summer concert series at the Lorain County Metro Parks' Vermilion River Reservation. Music begins at 6 p.m. in the Bacon Woods Amphitheatre, 51211 N. Ridge Road, Vermilion. This week Tim Blake and Michelle will perform, covering pop favorites. Visitors should bring their own blankets or chairs. Market in the Park Visit Vermilion's Market in the Park from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday through Aug. 30 in Victory Park, 687 Main St. New vendors and artisans are featured weekly to keep shoppers coming back all summer. Walking on Wednesday Come shop, stroll and dine when Walking On Wednesday returns from 4-7:30 p.m. Aug. 13 in downtown Amherst. This week will honor hometown legend and motocross pioneer John Penton. Vendors will be set up along Park Avenue, offering unique finds and local treasures and a car show will line Church Street. Stop in for dinner at one of the many downtown eateries and visit the local shops that will be open late. Main Street Amherst is looking for vendors for farmers' market stands, artistic vendors, nonprofits and classic car or truck owners to participate in Walking on Wednesday events. Kiwanis Club pool day The Kiwanis Club of Vermilion is sponsoring a free end-of-summer pool day for the kids of Vermilion from 12 to 5 p.m. Aug. 10 at the Vermilion Community Pool, 4846 Pineview Drive, Vermilion. All kids 17 and younger can swim for free. Kids ages 10 and younger must be accompanied by an adult. Parents and guardians will pay $6 admission fee. Free drinks and snacks will be provided, as well as fun games and poolside activities. Kona Ice, a shaved ice and beverage truck, will be onsite, providing sweet treats for additional purchase.
