Thomas Edward Crouse

Thomas Edward Crouse, 74, died Friday, August 1, 2025 of metastatic lung cancer. Born March 29, 1951 to John Edward and Alyce Joyce (Chattaway) Crouse, Tom lived most of his life in Washington County, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Washington High School, where he played trumpet and herald trumpet in the marching band. He played drums, keyboard and lead guitar, and performed backup vocals for local rock bands. Tom attended Clarion University and California University of Pennsylvania. He was a journeyman CNC machinist for over 40 years, and a member of the International Association of Machinists & Aerospace Workers. Fifty years ago, on June 14, 1975, he married Merilyn (Lyn) Huber. The couple moved to Elyria in 2012 when Lyn became the director of the Elyria Public Library System. Tom is survived by his wife; sons, Andrew (Jordan Wasil) and Alex (Johanna Paeplow); granddaughters, Erin and Sarah Crouse; and grandsons, Jack and Leo Crouse; sisters, Judith Crouse Jeney, Megan Inghram Ross (Erik), and Samatha Crouse Frazier (Jeffrey); and brothers, Reverend Dr. John D. Inghram (Betsy), and Rev. James B. Inghram (Brittany.) Calling hours will take place at the Elyria Public Library System's Central Branch on Friday, August 15, 2025 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m., with a Celebration of Life service officiated by Tom's brothers taking place at 11:30 a.m. A luncheon for family and friends will follow. The interment of ashes will be private. The family wishes to thank the staff and volunteers at the Hospice of the Western Reserve's Ames Family Hospice House, and the University Hospital's Seidman Cancer Center for their care.
