George William Fridenstine

George William Fridenstine, 77, passed away peacefully Tuesday, July 29, 2025, at The Lantern at Morning Pointe in Franklin, Tennessee after a long battle with cancer and Dementia. George was born December 12, 1947, in Alexandria, Virginia. His family soon after moved to Ohio. He was a graduate of North Ridgeville High School. Working alongside his father, Al, George worked in the trade fields as a carpenter before he enlisted in the United States Airforce. He became a Sargent, trained as a Combat Medic Service Specialist out of Laredo AFB, Texas, and served in the Vietnam War, where he received many medals and commendations for his bravery and excellence on and off the field. After serving, George returned to Ohio and married Sandra Faulhaber on May 4, 1972, at Saint Mary's Church in Elyria, Ohio. He continued his career as a journeyman carpenter with the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America. He later became the business agent representative for the local office in Elyria, Ohio. Upon retirement from the carpenters' local, George also served as a building inspector for the City of Elyria. He later retired to Tennessee with his wife, Sandra, to be closer to his son and grandchildren. George is survived by his only son, Jason Fridenstine and his wife, Amery, and their two boys, Charlie and Mason, of Nashville, Tennessee; Sisters, Sandie Walsh and her husband, Bruce of Avon, Ohio, and Mary Shagovac and her husband Greg of Avon, Ohio. He is also survived by his nieces and nephews, Kate Dodok of Cleveland, Ohio, Kristie Puls of Columbia Station, Ohio, Zack Shagovac of Mentor, Ohio, and Jake Shagovac of Avon, Ohio. George is preceded in death by his father Alvin 'Al' Fridenstine; his mother, Elizabeth Mae Fridenstine; his loving wife, Sandra Fridenstine; and his niece, Kelly Walsh- Durette. George will be remembered as a dedicated and loving husband and father. Visitation for George will be held Saturday, August 2, 2025 from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral at 11 a.m. at Hempel Funeral Home, Amherst.
