Elyria raid leads to arrest of man already on probation on drug charges

An Elyria man already on probation following a conviction on felony drug charges was arrested Friday in an early morning search at his Eastern Heights home. According to an Elyria Police Department news release, its Special Response Team along with narcotics officers and detectives searched a home in the 900 block of Case Avenue. Police said it was the third time since 2022 that particular home had been searched. Office seized suspected fentanyl, drug paraphernalia and an undisclosed amount of cash, according to the news release. Arrested was Tyler Jalowiec, 20, who lives at the home, according to court documents. He was charged with trafficking in fentanyl, possession of fentanyl and possession of criminal tools, all felonies, and possession of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, according to Elyria police. Police last raided the Case Avenue home in January 2024 and charged Jalowiec with several felonies. Elyria police were assisted in that case by the Lorain Police Department and FBI and ATF agents. Indicted on six total charges including having weapons under disability, possession of criminal tools and multiple counts of trafficking in cocaine and possession of cocaine, Jalowiec pleaded guilty to all charges in February ahead of his scheduled trial date in Lorain County Common Pleas Court. He was ordered to forfeit to Elyria police a Pioneer Arms Hellpup semi-automatic rifle they seized during the 2024 raid. In March, Judge Giovanna Bremke sentenced him to three years community control ending in 2028 with general probation supervision, according to court records. It was his second felony conviction in Lorain County. In April 2024, Jalowiec pleaded guilty to receiving stolen property, a felony, and was sentenced to two years community control by Judge Raymond Ewers ending April 2026.
