Ruth Arlene Hull

Ruth Arlene Hull, 94, of Elyria, Ohio was called home to the loving arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. She was born September 19, 1930, in Buffalo, New York, Ruth lived a life devoted to glorifying God and uplifting the name of Jesus Christ. Ruth was married for 58 years to Reverend Willis Hull, Jr.. Together, they served in ministry at First Baptist Church of Elyria, Grace Baptist Church of Westlake, Faith Baptist Church of Amherst, and three churches in New York. Ruth was a faithful pastor's wife and instrumental in the establishing of four Christian schools, including First Baptist Christian School of Elyria which will celebrate its 50th anniversary this year. Ruth later taught English, speech and journalism at Avon High School before retiring in 1999. She received her Bachelor's degree from Bob Jones University and her Master's degree from Elmira College. Ruth loved to teach and was an excellent public speaker. She did teacher training, women's conferences, and missionary support in Ohio, New York, Australia and South America. She was passionate about helping students with learning disabilities, mentoring teachers, and encouraging excellence. Ruth found joy in hospitality, teaching Sunday School, playing piano and organ, sharing Scripture, and nurturing her family. Ruth's life reflected Proverbs 3:5-6, trusting in the Lord with all her heart. Her lifesong was one of joy, excellence and service to others. Ruth was preceded in death by her beloved husband; her parents, Arthur and Ellen Hanneman; and her two sisters, Marian Malloy and Edith Heiser. Ruth is survived by her four children, Jackie Schiller (Mark), Willis Hull III (Marianne), Sue Johnson (Howard), and Jenny Miller (Roger); twelve grandchildren; and sixteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will also be held at Faith Baptist Church, 440 N. Lake St, Amherst on Saturday, June 21, 2025 from 2 to 6 p.m. A service to celebrate Ruth's life and faith will also be held at the church on Sunday, June 22, 2025 at 2 p.m. Rebroadcasting of services will be available at www.hempelfuneralhome.com.
