Man faces disorderly conduct, menacing charges in Justice Center incident (VIDEO)

ELYRIA — A man was arrested Wednesday morning after allegedly disrupting and menacing Lorain County Sheriff's Office deputies while intoxicated at the Lorain County Justice Center. Marqua Wright, 45, entered the Justice Center just after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday and laid down on the ground in front of metal detectors in the building's lobby, the Sheriff's Office said. The interaction was captured on video by Chronicle reporter Dave O'Brien, who was present at the Justice Center. Deputies repeatedly asked Wright to get off the ground and leave, eventually telling him he can go home or go to jail. Wright speaks loudly while laying on the ground, but is difficult to understand on the video. "When (Wright) did speak, he spoke incoherently," according to the sheriff's department. "A strong odor of an intoxicating beverage was smelled on or about his person." Wright eventually stood up, and immediately took several steps towards a deputy who was about three feet away. On the video, the deputy takes a half-step forward and shoves Wright, who spins and falls to the ground. The deputy says "don't walk up on me." "After several minutes, Mr. Wright got up on his feet and lunged towards one of the Deputies," according to the sheriff's department. "The Deputy reacted and pushed Mr. Wright in the chest, causing him to fall backwards onto the floor." On the video, the two deputies who were speaking to Wright place him in handcuffs, and two other deputies come to assist. All four eventually helped him back to his feet. Wright was charged with resisting arrest, menacing and disorderly conduct, all misdemeanors, and was taken to Lorain County Jail. It wasn't known why Wright was at the Lorain County Justice Center. He did not have an open case or a hearing scheduled in any of the courts in the county courthouse, according to a search of court records.
