Deshaun Watson driven off field on cart with leg injury; Browns trail 7-6 at halftime

CLEVELAND — Nick Chubb's long-awaited return from a devastating knee injury Sunday was overshadowed by what looked like a serious right leg injury to quarterback Deshaun Watson.He went down untouched on what would've been a quarterback sneak with 1:22 left in the first half.The Browns trailed the Bengals 7-6 at halftime. Cleveland's Dustin Hopkins missed a 49-yard field goal and an extra point.Watson's right leg buckled on second-and-6 from the Cincinnati 21-yard line as he planted to transition from his drop to the run.Dorian Thompson-Robinson elevated to No. 2 QB ahead of Jameis WinstonHe put both hands on his helmet and was driven off the field on a cart. The entire Browns sideline surrounded him on the field and many teammates and coaches patted him on the back, the last of whom was NFL Defensive Player of the Year Myles Garrett.The team didn't immediately announce the nature of the injury.Watson was 15-for-17 for 128 yards and a 98.0 passer rating.He entered ranked near the bottom of the NFL in all the major passing categories, hasn't thrown for 200 yards in a game this season and was booed before and during the game.He was replaced by Dorian Thompson-Robinson, who was greeted by loud cheers.Thompson-Robinson replaced Jameis Winston as the No. 2 quarterback for the first time this season. Winston was listed as the emergency No. 3 quarterback.Thompson-Robinson pitched to Chubb for a 1-yard touchdown on fourth down in the final minute.Chubb played about 25 snaps, rushing 10 times for 20 yards with a long of 5. He caught one pass for 10 yards.He hadn't played since being injured Sept. 18, 2023, vs. the Steelers.The Browns were desperate for a good start as they try snap a four-game losing streak and win for the first time at Huntington Bank Field.Instead, they allowed Cincinnati's Charlie Jones to take the opening kickoff 100 yards for a touchdown. It was only the third return of his career.Jones started up the right side and ran through a large seam. Hopkins, who pulled a hamstring chasing a touchdown return last year in Houston, made a limited effort to tackle him and Jones continued down the right sideline.
