Lynn Garrett

Lynn Garrett went home to be with the Lord and his beloved wife, Bonnie, Tuesday, October 1, 2024 just one month before his 90th birthday. Lynn was born in Lakewood and later moved to Avon where he graduated amongst a class of 28 students in 1952 from Avon High School. Following a brief time at Temple University in Philadelphia, Lynn joined the Navy in 1953 and was stationed aboard the U.S.S. Frank E. Evans DD754 Destroyer. After Naval travels to Japan, Guam, Hong Kong, Singapore, and Melbourne, he returned home to Avon in 1957 and was married to Bonnie in 1958. Lynn was an avid reader especially of history, enjoyed various art forms, and listening to music including bag pipes, Irish folk, and orchestras. He loved spending time with family, tinkering in the yard, taking trips to Ocean City, New Jersey, and maintaining relationships with friends both new and old. He is survived by his three children; Beverly (Marty) Lescher of Elyria, Ohio, Kimberly (Gary) Peaco of Mars, Pennsylvania, and Dale (Beth) Garrett of Avon, Ohio; his eight grandchildren, Bethany, Brittany, Megan, Matthew, Ryan, Evan, Lincoln and Lena; his great-grandson, Leon; his cousin, Jay Cinco of Euclid, Ohio; his cousin, Tim (Jeanne) Potter of California; his brother-in-law, Bill Mahon of Westlake, Ohio; and his nephews, David (Debra) Mahon and James (Rebecca) Mahon. He was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years Bonnie, his parents George and Marion, and his sister Karen (Bill) Mahon. The family will receive friends Sunday, October 13, 2024 from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Road, Avon. A service will be Monday, October 14, 2024 at 10:30 a.m. with an interment immediately after, at Resthaven Memory Gardens, Avon. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association and the Amvets.
