David Billick

David Billick, 78, of Amherst passed peacefully at home Sunday, September 15, 2024 with his wife, son and daughter at his side. Dave married his high school sweetheart, Patricia Voytko, on October 12, 1968 and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage. As a devoted husband, he honored his promise to her parents to always take good care of Pat. He was her caregiver for the past five years. David was an alumnus of Admiral King High School (class of 1964), Kent State University, Cuyahoga Community College, and the Institute of Computer Management. He was a recipient of Kiwanis and Dale Carnegie awards. He graduated police training having been awarded badge #1 for his achievements. He served as an auxiliary police officer for the city of Stow. He was sponsored throughout his professional career receiving extended scholastics through Kepner Trego, Nolan Norton, and Management Development Foundation for problem analysis, project management, and standards & procedures. He was a former member of the Data Processing Management Association, Slovak Home, St John, St Raphael and St Joseph parishes and was a 2008 Lorain Sports Hall of Fame inductee. Many may remember Dave for his imposing 6'8" 250 lbs. frame, his athletic abilities and numerous accolades. However, this is not where his heart laid. The lessons he learned as an athlete on the courts and fields about not giving up and never losing the will to win, transferred over and served him well throughout his personal life and professional career. He was retired, having career positions at Medical Mutual of Cleveland, Revco D.S. of Twinsburg and ADI of Sheffield. He concluded his career as Manufacturing Coordinator with American Engineering & Manufacturing, Inc of Elyria, a small company that does contract work for the government military. He regarded his close knit AEMI colleagues not only as friends, but as part of his family. Dave is survived by his immediate family, his wife, Pat; son, Jason (Ernand) of California; daughter, Amy Berg (Carl) of South Carolina; his dearly beloved grandchildren, Justin, Griffin, Vanessa, and Vivian; sister, Phyllis Teleha (Andy) of Florida; as well as his loyal golden retriever, Chance.
