North Ridgeville police Tuesday, June 18 7:54 p.m. — Motel 6, Lorain Road, sex offense. Police were contacted by a local hospital in reference to a possible sexual assault that took place at the motel at 32751 Lorain Road. A report was taken, though it did not say if any charges were filed. Saturday, July 6 11:05 a.m. — North Ridgeville Police Department, theft. A Cambridge Drive resident reported a theft, and a report was taken. The report was forwarded to the North Ridgeville City Prosecutor for review and possible charges. Tuesday, July 16 7 a.m. — North Ridgeville Police Department, sex offense. Matthew Krese, 21, of Avalon Drive, was arrested on one count of unlawful sexual conduct with a minor and two counts of disseminating matter harmful to a juvenile, all felonies. North Ridgeville police were forwarded an anonymous tip from Crime Stoppers of Cuyahoga County that alleged a sexual assault had taken place. The tip was investigated and Krese was arrested July 25 and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 4:02 p.m. — North Ridgeville Police Department, property damage. A person reported their vehicle was damaged by rocks that were thrown by a lawnmower. Thursday, July 18 8:39 a.m. — Sandusky Electric, Center Ridge Road, theft. An individual claimed a business stole from him sometime between July 2022 and the date of his report. Upon further investigation, the incident turned out to be a civil complaint, not a criminal one. Friday, July 19 1:53 a.m. — Leslie Avenue, death investigation. A 66-year-old woman was found unresponsive at a private residence and pronounced dead at the scene. The Lorain County Coroner's Office was called and released the body to family members. Arrangements were made with a funeral home. 12:57 p.m. — Marathon Gas, Center Ridge Road, robbery. Douglas Kelly, 61, of Rosebelle Avenue, was arrested on a felony robbery charge and misdemeanor theft and assault charges. Kelly stole a 25 oz. can of Budweiser beer worth $2.44 from the gas station at 35600 Center Ridge Road, apparently by force or threat of force. Officers arrived, found him, took him into custody and then took him to the Lorain County Jail. No other information was contained in a police report. 9:30 p.m. — Center Ridge Road and Olive Avenue, operating a vehicle impaired. Jerry Perdue, 45, address redacted, was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge. Perdue was arrested at a DUI checkpoint, booked, and released to a sober relative. Saturday, July 20 4:01 a.m. — Ridge Motel, Center Ridge Road, domestic violence. Tony Hendrickson, 63, of Elyria, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Officers responding to a disturbance took Hendrickson into custody, and he was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Sunday, July 21 4:14 p.m. — Address redacted, disturbance. Officers were dispatched to a residence for a report of an unwanted guest. A man was transported from the location and a report was taken. No other information was included in a police report on the incident. 8:08 p.m. — North Ridgeville Police Department, theft. A woman reported that someone fraudulently transferred $240 out of her Cash App account. 8:11 p.m. — 5600 block of Avon Belden Road, theft. Officers responded after multiple Amazon.com packages were found in a field. The packages were collected and a report was taken. Monday, July 22 7:54 p.m. — Address redacted, theft. A victim reported their EBT card had been compromised and used to purchase $691.40 worth of food without their permission. 8:24 p.m. — Address redacted, death investigation. Officers responded to a location for a possible suicide. A man, all of whose information was redacted in a police report, was found and pronounced dead by the North Ridgeville Fire Department. A report was taken. Tuesday, July 23 10:13 a.m. — Lear Nagle Road, death investigation. Officers went to a residence for a welfare check. After they got no response from the resident, they entered with help from the North Ridgeville Fire Department and found the resident, a 70-year-old man, dead. The Lorain County Coroner's Office responded and determined no foul play was involved in the man's death. Thursday, July 25 12:01 p.m. — Center Ridge Road and Root Road, operating a vehicle impaired. Jeffery Russell, 58, of Litchfield, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI and assured clear distance ahead charges. Officers responded to a traffic crash in the area of U.S. Route 20 and Root Road. Russell was the at-fault driver in the crash and found to be under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. He was arrested and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 7:06 p.m. — South Central Park, Avon Belden Road, animal complaint. Officers took a report of a woman injured by an animal. The victim was taken to Cleveland Clinic Avon Hospital for evaluation, and information was taken for a report. 8:52 p.m. — Chestnut Ridge Road and Lorain Road, operating a vehicle impaired. Steven Brennan, 66, of Montgomery Drive, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI, failure to stop after an accident and failure to control charges. A traffic complaint was called into police dispatch, and Brennan taken into custody. 9:47 p.m. — 5600 block of White Oak Way, domestic violence. Roberty Mealey Sr., 65, of White Oak Way, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Mealey assaulted a female household member, was arrested and taken to the Lorain County Jail. Saturday, July 27 7:20 p.m. — Shear Elevations, Lear Nagle Road, operating a vehicle impaired. Zachariah Danchuk, 41, address redacted, was cited with DUI and reasonable control, both misdemeanors. Officers responded to a one-car traffic crash. Danchuk was taken to University Hospitals St. John Medical Center in Westlake for treatment and cited. Sunday, July 28 7:40 p.m. — Address redacted, disorderly conduct. Jodi Cowfer, 43, of Morgan Circle, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct by intoxication. A caller requested a welfare check on some juveniles. The mother of the children, Cowfer was arrested. Monday, July 29 8:59 a.m. — North Ridgeville Police Department, fraud. North Ridgeville police were forwarded a case from the Jacksonville, Florida, Police Department involving a business email compromise scam that cost the victim, a Jacksonville real estate business, nearly $20,000. 8:42 p.m. — Address redacted, domestic violence. Andrew Bowers, 66, of Hickory Trail, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Officers responding to a report of domestic violence at a residence took Bowers into custody, then to the Lorain County Jail. 8:47 p.m. — Address redacted, animal complaint. Bryce Sinclair, 26, no address given, was cited with confinement or restraint of dog, a misdemeanor. An officer took a report of one dog attacking another dog, and Sinclair was cited. Wednesday, July 31 4:30 p.m. — Northwest Bank, Center Ridge Road, fraud. Officers took a report of check fraud and related charges. 7:42 p.m. — Address redacted, theft. A juvenile male was arrested on misdemeanor theft, obstructing official business and unruliness charges. Officers took a report of a stolen red Raptor Quasar bicycle. The juvenile was found with the stolen bicycle and was taken into custody after a short foot chase. He was charged in Lorain County Juvenile Court. Thursday, Aug. 1 3:07 a.m. — Address redacted, theft. A caller reported that two men entered their vehicle and stole a $500 Louis Vuitton purse, a $100 Louis Vuitton wallet, and credit/debit cards. The theft was caught on surveillance video. 9:45 a.m. — Lear Nagle Road, civil issue. A resident reported a possible civil matter involving a person who owns a painting company. The matter was being investigated and a report forwarded to the City Prosecutor's office for review of possible criminal charges. 1:30 p.m. — Burger King, Lorain Road, theft. The store manager reported theft by an employee and signed charges. 6:50 p.m. — 36000 block of Chestnut Ridge Road, theft. A victim reported falling for a gift card scam. They lost more than $1,000 but less than $7,500. Friday, Aug. 2 12:21 a.m. — Lorain Road and Ohio Turnpike, domestic violence. Ciara Dasilva, 33, of Cleveland, was arrested and charged with domestic violence, assault, endangering children and reckless operation of a motor vehicle, all misdemeanors. Officers responded to Interstate 480 westbound at the entrance gates to the Ohio Turnpike for a road rage incident. After investigation, it was learned that Dasilva assaulted her husband. She was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Saturday, Aug. 3 10:48 a.m. — Address redacted, fraud/theft from the elderly. An officer was dispatched to an unnamed business for a fraud report. Tuesday, Aug. 6 4:27 p.m. — Address redacted, attempted suicide. Officers responded to an unnamed location after a woman attempted suicide. She was provided first aid and transported to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center. Wednesday, Aug. 7 12:25 a.m. — Lorain Road and Ohio Turnpike, operating a vehicle impaired. John P. Walsh, 27, of Bay Village, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI, DUI high blood alcohol content and weaving charges. Walsh's car was seen weaving back and forth, then nearly hitting a curb. Officers stopped it and arrested Walsh, who appeared intoxicated. Friday, Aug 9 5:58 p.m. — Avon Belden Road and Bainbridge Road, operating a vehicle impaired. Joseph Moran, 35, of Parma, was arrested on a misdemeanor DUI charge. A witness called in a possible drunken driver going south on state Route 83. Officers found the car, stopped it, and determined that Moran was intoxicated. He was cited. Sunday, Aug. 11 12:45 a.m. — Center Ridge Road and Greenlawn Drive, failure to comply. Sebastian Maldonado, 23, of Northview Circle, was arrested on failure to comply, DUI, DUI low order blood alcohol content, operating without a driver's license, reckless operation, and marked lanes charges, all misdemeanors. Officers tried to stop Maldonado's car on U.S. Route 20 but it fled, resulting in a short pursuit. Maldonado was stopped, arrested and cited in Elyria Municipal Court.
