Steve 'Chick' Tomko

Steve 'Chick' Tomko, 92, passed away Tuesday, July 2, 2024 and born April 29, 1932. Preceded in death by his beloved wife, Joanne (married 63 years); his parents, Steve and Anna Tomko; sisters, Mary Ann Brown (Bill), and Helen Sacco (Chuck). Beloved father of daughter, Judy Morris (Greg); sons, Michael (Barb), Steve (Donna), Guy (Maureen) and Paul (Bonnie); dearest grandfather of David, Andrew (Christina), Derick (Taylor), Ann (Rob), Patrick, Philip, Stephanie (Jordan), Joshua and Matthew; cherished great-grandfather of Emma, Luca, Bennett, Jacob, Sophia and Baby Boy Tomko due in October; special uncle to many. Steve was a proud U.S. Army War Veteran from the Korean War and proud member of the VFW. He was a past President of Northwest Deanery Holy Name Society, past President of Benedictine High School Athletic Club, founder of Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Parish Athletic Program, and honorary member of the Diocese of Cleveland CYO Hall of Fame. Steve loved his family, his friends, the Cleveland Indians, coaching the youth, bowling, bocce, Duke basketball and Coach K. He was a volunteer at Fairview General Hospital for six years. Friends were received Friday, July 5, 2024 from 3 to 7 p.m. in the Berry-McGreevey Funeral Home, 26691 Detroit Rd., Westlake, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 6, 2024 at 11 a.m. in St. Clarence Church, North Olmsted (meet at church). Interment to be in Holy Cross Cemetery (Brook Park, Ohio) immediately afterward. Memorial donations can be made to St. Jude's Children's hospital or VA Heroes Harbor Hospice.
