Elyria police Monday, June 10 11:08 a.m. — Marathon gas station, West River Road North, warrant service. Breyania McCullum, 22, of Allen Street, was arrested on a warrant through the North Ridgeville Police Department. She was handed over to the custody of North Ridgeville police. 11:27 a.m. — 1800 block of Middle Avenue, domestic violence. Jeffrey Garcia, 31, of Middle Avenue, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Garcia allegedly punched a woman in the face. Officers said that after they arrived, they heard Garcia tell the woman, who was whimpering behind a closed apartment door, to be quiet. Officers forced entry due to their belief someone was in distress or seriously injured and found the victim with swelling and bruising on her face and back. There were signs of a struggle and officers said they learned Garcia had hit the woman in the back with a guitar and had a knife on him. Garcia was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 2:44 p.m. — Giant Eagle, Market Drive, warrant service. James Justice, 65, of Columbus Street, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court and cited with driving under suspension and failure to display license plates, both misdemeanors. Officers stopped Justice's black Ford Ranger for having an expired registration after it attempted to elude them in traffic. He did not have a valid driver's license and also had a warrant out for his arrest. Justice was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Tuesday, June 11 3:36 a.m. — True North, Lorain Boulevard, trespass. Earl Noel, 31, of East Avenue, was arrested on misdemeanor criminal trespass and possession of drug paraphernalia charges. Noel was outside the convenience store at 905 Lorain Blvd. bothering customers, and had been banned from the property in January. Officers said there was a crack pipe in Noel's jacket pocket, and he was arrested and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 11:22 a.m. — Lorain County Jail, warrant service. Christopher Liebig, 42, of Westlake, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2021 traffic case. 11:52 a.m. — 10th Street, obstructing. Jakara Cook, 33, of 10th Street, was arrested on a misdemeanor obstructing official business charge. Cook argued with neighbors over where she parked her car, and gave officers two fake Social Security numbers including one that belonged to a man with multiple warrants. Cook told officers she gave them fake information because she had a warrant and "did not want to get in trouble," and was taken to the Lorain County Jail. The neighbors who originally called police told officers they did not want to press charges over their argument with Cook. 5:49 p.m. — South Abbe Road, domestic violence. Cedric Hester III, 24, of Cascade Street, was arrested on a felony disrupting public services charge and misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. A woman said Hester assaulted her after they had been dating only a few weeks, he moved into her apartment and she asked him to leave. He argued with her and when she got scared and called 911, he burst into the bathroom, hit her and knocked the phone out of her hand. The assault was recorded on a 911 call. Hester, who was hiding from police in the bathroom, then called the victim on the phone as she spoke with officers and begged her not to tell police what happened. Hester was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 6:52 p.m. — 300 block of West Avenue, warrant service. Robert Hutton, 39, of Cleveland, was arrested on a warrant through the Cuyahoga County Sheriff's Office. Officers responding to a report of an unwanted guest at a residence learned Hutton was inside and had a warrant. He was taken to the Lorain County Jail. The woman who called police for help getting Hutton to leave was "extremely hostile" with officers and refused to answer any questions. Wednesday, June 12 12:01 a.m. — 500 block of Walnut Street, warrant service. Christyan Hicks, 20, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant through the Lorain Police Department. He was taken into custody without incident and handed over to Lorain police. 11:16 a.m. — Lorain Boulevard and Lake Avenue, drug investigation. Krista Smierciak, 34, of Lorain, was arrested on three counts of drug possession, all felonies, and cited with driving under suspension and failure to stop at a stop sign, both misdemeanors. Smierciak was one of several women police said were acting suspiciously in or near a silver Ford Taurus stopped by police. Smierciak was driving without a valid license and neither of her passengers had valid licenses. There were amphetamines, benzodiazepines, less than 1 gram of methamphetamine, and a marijuana pipe in the car. All three women denied owning the drugs, but Smierciak's daughter's name was on the pill bottles the drugs were found in. She was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 1:47 p.m. — state Route 57 and North Abbe Road, obstructing. Elizabeth Powell, 57, of Foster Avenue, was arrested on an obstructing official business charge and cited with no operators license and a marked lanes violation, all misdemeanors. Officers investigating a crash at the intersection determined Powell was at fault, and she gave them her 76-year-old mother's name and date of birth instead of her own. The mother later called and told officers the truth. Powell later told officers who showed up at her home that she was scared and has no license. She was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Thursday, June 13 12:23 a.m. — 100 block of College Park Drive, operating a vehicle impaired. August Artis, 38, of College Park Drive, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of DUI, driving under suspension and failure to control. Officers investigating a traffic crash at the College Park Apartments found Artis outside a damaged silver Hyundai. A witness told officers Artis crash into an obstruction, and she appeared intoxicated when officers spoke to her. Artis gave a confused statement to an officer, refused sobriety and urine tests, and was taken to the Elyria Police Department for booking before being released to a sober person. Artis had one prior DUI conviction and two prior convictions for failure to maintain reasonable control. 1:57 a.m. — 500 block of Bell Avenue, weapons violations. Markell Wilson, 27, of Parmely Avenue, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and using weapons while intoxicated. Officers responding to a report of shots being fired found a Glock handgun in Wilson's pocket after Wilson denied having a gun. Officers said Wilson and two friends were intoxicated when they spoke to them. Wilson was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 3:20 p.m. — Lorain County Jail, warrant service. Michael Cadman, 55, of Butternut Ridge Road, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court. Friday, June 14 3:13 a.m. — East Broad Street and Garford Avenue, warrant service. Stephanie Barnett, 31, of Norwalk, was arrested on a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 2:29 p.m. — Speedy Gas, Middle Avenue, drug investigation. David Richardson, 33, of Taft Avenue, and Karen Maldonado, 23, of East Avenue, were arrested: Richardson on two felony drug possession charges and a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge, and Maldonado on a felony drug possession charge along with citations for driving under suspension and having expired plates, both misdemeanors. An officer stopped the couple's gray 2007 Ford Escape for having an expired registration and because Maldonado's license was suspended. There were multiple fentanyl pills, less than 1 gram of crack cocaine and two drug pipes in Maldonado's belongings and Richardson admitted using illegal drugs. Both Richardson and Maldonado were taken to the Lorain County Jail. 9:04 p.m. — North Ridge Road, Lorain, warrant service. Mayra Rosello, 54, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court and taken to the Lorain County Jail. Saturday, June 15 1:23 a.m. — Lorain County Jail, warrant service. Justin Thomas, 39, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court. 8:36 a.m. — Lake Avenue and Morgan Avenue, weapons violations. Jonuel Aguayo Canales, 28, and Angel Velazquez, 26, both of Lorain, were arrested: Canales was taken into custody on a warrant through the Lorain Police Department and cited with driving under suspension and having a cracked windshield, both misdemeanors, and Velazquez was arrested on misdemeanor charges of carrying a concealed weapon and improper handling of firearms in a motor vehicle. Officers seized a loaded Canik TP9 handgun from under the front seat of the car. Canales was handed over to the custody of Lorain police and Velazquez was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 3:01 p.m. — Market Drive, obstructing. Jamie Daniels, 51, of Wesley Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor obstructing official business charge and cited with driving under suspension and having expired license plates, both misdemeanors. An officer tried to stop Daniels' dark blue Chevrolet truck for an expired registration and because Daniels had two warrants, but Daniels pulled into a parking lot and left the truck. While the truck was being towed, Daniels returned to it and told an officer he ran away because his registration was expired, he had warrants and he didn't want to go back to jail. Daniels was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Sunday, June 16 3:15 a.m. — Lorain Boulevard and Bell Avenue, drug possession. Steven Miller, 26, of Brunswick, and Vincent Kenny, 29, of Medina, were arrested on charges of aggravated trafficking in drugs, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of cocaine, all felonies, and misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charges. Miller also was cited with no driver's license, a misdemeanor. Officers stopped a car for a turn signal violation and found a baggie containing a large amount of suspected methamphetamine and a baggie of cocaine inside. Kenny's minor child also was in the car and was picked up by her grandmother. Kenny admitted being a drug user and Miller refused to answer questions without a lawyer present. Both were taken to the Lorain County Jail. 2:33 p.m. — 600 block of Middle Avenue, warrant service. Tabitha Christian, 38, of Sommer Way, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court and taken to the Lorain County Jail. Tuesday, June 18 2:57 a.m. — North Ridge Road, Elyria Township, warrant service. Jazmire Judson, 22, of Middle Avenue, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:29 a.m. — First United Methodist Church, Third Street, trespass. Jean Stotzer, 39, of Adams Street, was arrested on a misdemeanor criminal trespass charge. Stotzer was found sleeping in some bushes in the courtyard of the church at 312 Third St. after having been banned from the property in June 2023. She was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:49 a.m. — West River Road North and Ford Road, drug investigation. Raymond Halliwill III, 43, of West Avenue, was issued a summons to appear in court on a misdemeanor charge of possession of drug paraphernalia and cited with driving under suspension, a misdemeanor. A search of Halliwill's red 1999 Ford Ranger turned up his Ohio Direction Card with suspected cocaine residue on it hidden in a magnetic stash underneath the driver's seat. He was cited and released at the scene. 2:55 p.m. — 100 block of Irondale Street, warrant service. Core'Aun Washington, 21, of Irondale Street, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:42 p.m. — 400 block of Cleveland Street, warrant service. Charles Hyer, 58, of Cleveland Street, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2010 traffic case. He was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 11:49 p.m. — Oberlin Road and Homesite Court, drug investigation. Marilyn Breeden, 45, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court and on a misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charge. Breeden was driving a 2006 Chevrolet that nearly caused a traffic crash and was found to have warrants out for her arrest. A suspected crack cocaine pipe was found in her purse, and she was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Wednesday, June 19 12:15 p.m. — Market Drive, drug investigation. Kyle Brenner, 30, of Sheffield Lake, was arrested on a felony cocaine possession charge and cited with DUI and failure to use a turn signal, both misdemeanors. Officers responding to a report of a reckless driver stopped Brenner's blue Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck for failing to signal a turn into the Marathon gas station at 803 West River Road North. Officers said Brenner denied driving recklessly, acted suspiciously, had white powder residue in his nose and appeared to be under the influence of drugs. Brenner failed three sobriety tests. Officers found a baggie containing 60.7 grams of cocaine in his pocket. Brenner gave a urine sample at the Elyria Police Department and was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 1:33 p.m. — Cambridge Avenue and Prospect Street, warrant service. Charlaya Harris, 25, of Middle Avenue, was arrested on a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office and cited with driving under suspension and having an expired registration, both misdemeanors. She was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 4:49 p.m. — 100 block of Bellfield Avenue, obstructing. Samantha Hirsch, 27, of Bellfield Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor obstruction charge and cited with possession of drug abuse instruments, a misdemeanor. Hirsch, who had a warrant out for her arrest, rode away from officers on a bicycle after being ordered to stop. Officers used a Taser on Hirsch and took her into custody. She was treated for a minor injury at University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center, cited, ordered to appear in court at a later date, and released for medical treatment. 5:45 p.m. — 100 block of Spruce Street, domestic violence. Christopher C. Williams, 46, of Melvyn Lane, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and menacing charges. Williams allegedly was intoxicated and made threats to his girlfriend, who was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for evaluation. Williams was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 7:38 p.m. — North Ridge Road, Elyria Township, warrant service. Taviaun Buxton, 19, of Lorain, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court. An Elyria officer took custody of Buxton from a Lorain officer and took him to the Lorain County Jail. 7:58 p.m. — 400 block of Hawthorne Street, warrant service. Brent Board, 48, of Hawthorne Street, was arrested on warrants through multiple police agencies including the Lorain Police Department. Elyria police officers assisting with finding Board following a pursuit in Lorain found him outside his home. When he allegedly refused to follow orders, they took him into custody at gunpoint. Elyria police handed Board over to Lorain police and he was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Thursday, June 20 3:15 a.m. — Lorain Boulevard and Interstate 90 westbound, drug investigation. Gerica Newson, 30, of Lorain, was arrested on felony heroin and cocaine possession charges, two misdemeanor drug paraphernalia charges and a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court. Officers stopped Newson's car and found suspected cocaine paraphernalia, cocaine residue and heroin inside. Newson appeared under the influence of drugs and was taken by LifeCare paramedics to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for treatment. She was then taken to the Lorain County Jail upon release from the hospital. 4:11 p.m. — D&M Mart, Lake Avenue, warrant service. Ronald Malone III, 44, of Turner Boulevard, was arrested on a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. Officers responding to a car fire found that Elyria firefighters had already put it out. Malone was the registered owner and had a warrant out for his arrest. He was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 7:16 p.m. — Irondale Street and Blake Street, obstructing. Jeffrey Willis, 45, of West River Road North, was arrested on a misdemeanor obstructing official business charge and a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office. Willis was one of two men stopped for riding bicycles, weaving from one side of the street to the other, without using hand signals. Willis gave an officer a fake name and his brother's Social Security number, but his brother had warrants out for his arrest as well. Willis then admitted giving false information and was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:41 p.m. — 300 block of Hawthorne Street, warrant service. Jeanette Patten, 58, of Winckles Street, was arrested on two warrants through Elyria Municipal Court and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:41 p.m. — Chipotle, West River Road North, assault. Keli Rauch, 19, of Bell Avenue, was arrested on a misdemeanor assault charge. An employee at the restaurant at 1615 West River Road North, Rauch allegedly punched a 17-year-old male coworker in the face after he bumped into or "nudged" her while working. The coworker threw a plastic container of sauce at her, and the fight continued in the kitchen where Rauch hit the victim with a large metal tray. Some of the incident was caught on video. No one was injured and Rauch was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 8:53 p.m. — state Route 57 and East Broad Street, failure to comply. Tyric Thorpe, 20, of Gateway Boulevard South, was arrested on misdemeanor charges of failure to comply, speeding, illegal window tint, no seatbelt, improperly approaching a stationary public safety vehicle and possession of marijuana. An officer tried to pull over Thorpe's white Ford Taurus for going 73 mph in a 50 mph zone but Thorpe refused to stop and ignored the officer's lights and sirens. Officers said Thorpe's window tint was took dark, he wasn't wearing a seatbelt and there was a small baggie of marijuana and other marijuana products in the car. Thorpe was taken to the Lorain County Jail.
