Avon Lake hosting fourth annual Make Music Day Friday

Avon Lake's fourth annual Make Music Day is Friday, and it will provide myriad opportunities for residents to enjoy or even participate in music throughout the city. Make Music Day is an international event where cities, including 120 in the U.S., come together to celebrate through music around the time of the summer solstice, which was Thursday. This appears set to be the biggest Avon Lake Make Music Day yet, with six main stages or venues planned to participate and many more businesses throughout the city planning to host musicians. The bulk of the free music will kick off at 4 p.m., but events will have varying schedules at the following venues: Avon Lake Presbyterian Church: Musical acts from noon to 1:30 p.m. The Dogg House, 33475 Lake Road: An open mic from 4-7 p.m. The Old Firehouse: Performances from members of the Ron Zehel Guitar Center of Avon Lake's Rock Academy from 4-9 p.m. The Folger House at Veterans Memorial Park: Musical crafts for kids from 3-4 p.m., 9-year-old Brookyln Lewis will perform at 5:30 p.m. and Ed Cook performs at 6 p.m. The Lake House at Veterans Memorial Park: Avon Lake Historical Society drum-along at 4 p.m. and the LaGrange Community Band at 6 p.m. The Gazebo at Veterans Memorial Park: One-Eyed Fred will play at 5 p.m., Ri Rosecrans Music will play at 7:30 p.m. and Star Party will play at 9 p.m. The event is hosted by the city, Music on a Mission and the North Coast Rotary Club.
