Ohio Department of Transportation releases 2024 project list

The Ohio Department of Transportation released its list of nearly 250 projects in 17 counties for 2024 on Tuesday. This year's construction projects total a $1.7 billion investment, with several looking to address serious or deadly crashes, as well as bridge, culvert and roadway improvements, according to the state's news release. Thirteen projects were listed for Lorain County, costing about $130 million. Those projects are: State Route 2 minor rehabilitation: Resurfacing along state Route 2 from west of the state Route 58 interchange to the Murray Ridge Road bridge. Traffic will be maintained. The total project cost is an estimated $5 million and will run now through September. State route 82 and state Route 303 signal installation: Radar installation at state Route 82 and Durkee and Route 82 and Island Road intersections; and state Route 303 and Stony Hill Road in Medina County. Traffic will be maintained. The total project cost is an estimated $168,308. Work will run now through October. State Route 2 lighting: Workers will remove existing highway lighting and install new light poles and LED lights at the state Route 2 and Vermilion Road interchange. Traffic will be maintained. The project will cost an estimated $312,196 and will be completed in December. State Route 162 minor rehabilitation: Asphalt and concrete repairs in Lorain and Medina counties along Route 162 from east of Butler Road South to Firestone Road and from Route 94 to South Medina Line Road. Traffic will be maintained. The project will cost an estimated $4 million and is expected to start in June and be completed in August. State Route 611 urban paving: Resurfacing in Lorain along state Route 611 from U.S. Route 6 to Colorado Avenue. Traffic will be maintained. The project will cost an estimated $4.5 million and is expected to start in June and be completed in September. State Route 2 bridge repairs: Bridge repairs will be completed over the Vermilion River, just west of Vermilion Road, and at the bridge over North Leavitt Road. Traffic will be maintained. The $1 million project is expected to start in July and be completed in October. Interstate 90 major rehabilitation: Pavement replacement and lane addition to I-90 from its connection with state Route 2 to the state Route 611 interchange. Traffic will be maintained. The $105 million project is expected to start in March 2025 and be completed in July 2027. State Route 58 and state Route 303 microsurfacing: Resurfacing along state Route 58 from Griggs Road to south of New London Eastern Road in Lorain County and state Route 303 from state Route 252 to east of Substation Road in Medina County. Traffic will be maintained. The $1.4 million project is expected to start in August and be completed in October. State Route 83 bridge replacement: The bridge over state Route 10 between Chestnut Ridge Road and Butternut Ridge/Lorain roads will be replaced. Traffic will be maintained. The $3.6 million project is expected to start in April 2025 and be completed in November. I-90 highway lighting upgrades will be completed between April 2025 and November 2025. The project is expected to cost $544,500 and traffic will be maintained. U.S. Route 20 intersection improvement: A two-way stop intersection at U.S. 20 and state Route 511 will be converted into a single-lane roundabout. The $2.8 million project is expected to start in May 2025 and be completed in September. Traffic will be detoured for 75 days. Crews will replace the Pleasant Street bridge over Plum Creek. The $1 million project will start in March 2025 and be completed in July. Traffic will be detoured for 90 days. County Road 606 multiuse path: Crews will construct a shared-use path along County Road 606 from French Creek Road to Detroit Road. Traffic will be maintained. The $1 million project is expected to start in May 2025 and be completed in October.
