Norma Jean Gladish

Norma Jean Gladish (nee Hoffman) was born March 20, 1931, in Lorain, Ohio to Frank B. and Katherine A. Hoffman (nee VonSick). She passed away April 8, 2024, after a 12 year battle with multiple myeloma. She grew up in Lorain, Ohio, and graduated from Lorain High School in 1949. She met her husband, William Gladish, in high school when he returned home to finish school after serving in the United States Navy during World War ll. Norma worked at One Stop Beverage in Avon, which she and her husband opened in 1976. They also owned N B Video in Avon. She worked at the Avon Schools as a noon mom and eventually in the kitchen at Avon East Elementary. When she wasn't busy spending time with her family, she enjoyed traveling, golfing, bowling, reading, sewing, cross stitch, and gardening. She enjoyed watching and cheering on the Cleveland Browns and Guardians. She enjoyed living on Willo Road in Avon for the past 64 years until recently, when she moved to Rose Senior Living off Nagel Road in Avon. Norma is survived by her three daughters, Kathy Robbins (Bill deceased), Lyn Eiseman (Bill), and Sandy Cory (Dave); grandchildren, Jim Robbins (Megan), Karen Robbins, Bill Eiseman (Sarah), Jason Eiseman (Kristin), Ben Eiseman, Matt Cory, and Sarah Cory Rivera (Rene); great-grandchildren, Emerson Eiseman, Brynn Eiseman, Madalyn Eiseman, Liam Eiseman, Ronan Eiseman, Lucas Rivera, and Amelia Rivera. She is also survived by her cousin, Nanci Wohl; and several nieces and nephews. Socks, her cat, enjoyed sitting in her lap during the day and sleeping on the bed with her at night. She was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents, Frank and Katherine Hoffman; and sister, Fran Perry. Her family will host a celebration of life Saturday, April 13, 2024 from 1 until 4 p.m. at Misencik Funeral Home, 36363 Detroit Road, Avon, Ohio. Burial will be private at the Ohio Western Reserve National Cemetery in Rittman, Ohio, where she will join her husband, Bill. The family would like to thank Dr. Chang at U.H Seidman Center in Westlake, and the nurses who provided the great care throughout her illness. We would also like to thank the wonderful staff at Rose Senior Living and Hospice of the Western for the assistance they provided when she lived there.
