Records: Amherst septic hauler had issues with Lorain County Public Health prior to Erie County violations

A local septic tank company under fire by the Erie County Health Department had prior issues in Lorain County, according to Lorain County Public Health records. Erie County officials recently ordered Amherst-based Father & Son Septic Services to stop dumping in a farm field in Wakeman, with plans to take action against the company's license and possibly pursue criminal charges, The Sandusky Register reported March 30. The Erie County Board of Health approved an enforcement order in late March to stop Father & Son Septic Service from dumping sewage in the Wakeman farm field; sent a notice to the company that the health department has the right to suspend or revoke its license; and approved an enforcement order against a property owner who had given the company permission to dump gray water on his property. According to documents from Lorain County Public Health, the health department cited the company for several issues in Lorain County over the past decade. In July 2015 Father & Son Septic Service was issued a violation for inadequate signage on its sewage hauler. In November 2018, Lorain County Public Health cited the company for discharging its septic truck's contents onto a property in Sheffield. The owner, Jim Coon, was issued a notice of violation for dumping the domestic septage onto a site without a septage land application site permit. In June 2022 Father & Son Septic Services was issued a violation for failure to obtain a permit for a home sewage treatment system it installed in Wellington. In September Father & Son Septic Services was issued a series of violations for incorrect installation of a home sewage treatment system in Oberlin. The company has an active registration in Lorain County as a septage hauler, according to Lorain County Public Health.
