Kellie Deeter announces candidacy for 54th Ohio House state representative

Kellie Deeter, a certified registered nurse anesthetist, nurse practitioner and local small business owner, announced her candidacy as a Republican for Ohio's 54th House District in a news release Thursday. The district encompasses most of Huron County and portions of Lorain County and is represented by state Rep. Dick Stein, R-Norwalk, who can't seek reelection due to term limits. Deeter is a more-than 30-year resident of Huron County and has been a CRNA for more than 15 years in outpatient and inpatient settings at various Northern Ohio hospitals, according to a biography provided by her campaign. She earned her nursing degree from Bowling Green State University, a master's degree from the University of Akron's nurse anesthesia program and a doctorate in nursing from Maryville University in St. Louis. Since 2007, Deeter has owned Firelands Anesthesia in Willard and has also owned and operated Firelands Medispa since 2021. "I am proud to announce my candidacy for state representative today and I have been humbled by the tremendous outpouring of support I have already received throughout the district," Deeter said. "There are only a small handful of doctors and nurses elected to serve at the state level today, and I intend to use my experiences as a health care professional and as a business owner to find lasting solutions to our most pressing issues in Ohio." Kellie and her husband Keven live in Norwalk with their six children. She has served as the president of the Ohio State Association of Nurse Anesthetists and is a member of the American Association of Nurse Anesthetists. Deeter received the 2018 AANA Ira P. Gunn Award for Outstanding Professional Advocacy and the 2017 OSANA CRNA of the Year Award. Her campaign website is www.kelliedeeter.com.
