Arlene D. Shank

Arlene D. Shank, 83, went to be with her Lord Saturday, September 2, 2023. She was born April 13, 1940 in Barnesboro, Pennsylvania, and made her home in Elyria for over 60 years. She was a long time parishioner at St. Jude Parish in Elyria where she enjoyed singing in the choir, participating in Bible studies, and volunteering with the Helping Hands. She loved spending time with her friends and family, going out to eat and playing games. Arlene and her late husband, John, used to enjoy square dancing with the Tappan Square and the Cardinal Squares traveling across the country dancing in various workshops and exhibitions. She always made sure that everybody knew that she loved them more and made everyone else feel extra special. Arlene leaves behind to cherish her memory her children, Debra Morgan, John F. Shank, Jr. (Lucia), James Shank (Mary), Richard Shank, Lisa Sooy (Ryan), Christina McCartney (Michael, deceased), and Theresa Karban; nine grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel and Vera Shebock; her beloved husband, John F. Shank, Sr.; and brother, Barry Shebock. The family will receive friends at the Reichlin Roberts Bollinger Funeral Home, 327 Cleveland St., Elyria Thursday, September 7, 2023 from 4 until 8 p.m. Closing prayers will be Friday, September 8, 2023 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home followed by the Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Jude Church, 590 Poplar St., Elyria with the Rev.
