Bruce J. Bevan

Lifelong resident and prominent local business man, Bruce J. Bevan, 72, of Amherst, passed away Saturday, August 19, 2023 at his home surrounded by his loving and devoted family. Bruce was born in Lorain on July 23, 1951, the son of the late Albert W. and Nancy R. (nee Pataky). He graduated from Lorain High School in 1969 and continued his formal education at Lorain Community College obtaining his Associate degree. He was an enthusiastic, lifetime member of Church of the Redeemer in Lorain. He especially enjoyed working in the food kitchen, where he was able to meet and interact with members of the community. Mr. Bevan owned and operated Jenkins & Bevan Insurance Agency in Amherst. He enjoyed reminiscing about his days working for the Ted Jacob's Company. He was an avid Browns Fan, holding season tickets for over 30 years, and many other community activities. He was a well respected stock car driver, proudly being welcomed with enthusiasm into the Racing Family community; making many appearances at Sandusky Motor Speedway. Bruce is survived by his loving wife, LuAnn DiGiandomenico; his son, Alex S. Bevan of Amherst; his favorite grandson, A.J. Bevan of Amherst; stepdaughters, Christina M. (Jillian Pena) Sellers of Stone Ridge, New York, Katharine F. (Adam) Dalton of Wakeman; stepson, Mark S. Sellers of Indianapolis, Indiana; sister, Alice E. Ginley of Amherst; his brother, Norm Bevan of Oberlin; nine step-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Marlene A. Simpson in 2006. Friends may call Saturday, August 26, 2023 starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Lorain Palace Theater, 617 Broadway, Lorain, followed by a funeral Mass at 11:30 a.m. with Father Alex Barton, Rector, of the Church of the Redeemer, officiating. A Celebration of Bruce's life will follow Mass. The family suggest that memorial contributions may be made to the Church of the Redeemer, 647 Reid Ave., Lorain.
