Lorain couple sent to prison for fatal 2022 carjacking

A Lorain husband and wife who lured a man to his death in a carjacking last May are now serving prison sentences for their crimes. With their pleas, Glenn and Jenni Bragg admitted to killing 68-year-old John Jarnagin in his car in a parking lot on Oberlin Avenue in Lorain on May 17, 2022. Glenn Bragg, 46, of Oberlin Avenue, pleaded guilty to 14 felony charges including aggravated murder, murder, felonious assault, aggravated robbery, tampering with evidence, grand theft, possession of fentanyl and burglary in Lorain County Common Pleas Court on Feb. 1. The same day, 45-year-old Jenni Lee Bragg pleaded guilty to felony charges of involuntary manslaughter, complicity to aggravated robbery, complicity to felonious assault, burglary, obstructing justice and possession of fentanyl, as well as misdemeanor solicitation and prostitution charges. Judge Christopher Rothgery accepted the pleas from both defendants and found them guilty. Glenn Bragg was sentenced to life in prison with the possibility of parole after 20 years on the aggravated murder charge. Jenni Bragg, 45, was sentenced to 3 to 4½ years in prison on the involuntary manslaughter charge. Three counts of complicity to murder filed on Jenni Bragg were dismissed as part of her plea agreement, according to court records. Glenn Bragg, who received credit for 261 days already served in jail awaiting trial, was ordered to pay $949 restitution, the cost of his own prosecution and court-appointed attorney fees. Jenni Bragg received 59 days credit and was also ordered to pay $949 restitution, costs and attorney fees. The couple's trials had been scheduled to begin in Rothgery's courtroom Monday. Glenn Bragg's first parole hearing will be in March 2042, according to the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections. He will be required to serve two to five years under post-release control if ever released from prison, Rothgery ruled. Jenni Bragg is being held at the Ohio Reformatory for Women in Marysville, and her earliest release date is Dec. 3, 2025, according to the ODRC. When released, she must spend two to five years under post-release control. Messages seeking comment were left for Glenn Bragg's attorney, Anthony Nici, and Jenni Bragg's attorney, Jenifer Berki. The crime Lorain police and county prosecutors said Glenn and Jenni Bragg lived in an apartment above some storefronts in the 4300 block of Oberlin Avenue. Jenni Bragg lured Jarnagin to the parking lot there on the morning of May 17, 2022, where Glenn Bragg robbed him and stabbed him to death. Glenn Bragg then stole Jarnagin's car, which police found abandoned less than a mile away. Lorain police had him in custody within five hours of the crime, they said. In between the 9:30 a.m. incident and his arrest around 2 p.m., Glenn Bragg went onto the Facebook group "Lorain Ohio Crime Watch" and wrote a public post asking what had happened earlier near West 44th Street and Oberlin Avenue. The prosecutor's office said further investigation pointed to Jenni Bragg's involvement in the crime, and she was indicted by a Lorain County grand jury in December.
