Elyria woman gets 25 years in prison for 2020 fatal shooting

An Elyria woman is going to prison for the slaying of another Elyria woman in 2020. Brea Holley, 29, was sentenced by Lorain County Common Pleas Judge Raymond Ewers to an indefinite sentence of 25 to 30½ years behind bars on Thursday. Holley pleaded guilty to voluntary manslaughter, felonious assault, improperly discharging a firearm at or into a habitation, tampering with evidence and related firearms specifications in the killing of 29-year-old Stacey Albright in July 2020, according to the Lorain County Prosecutor's Office. She was originally charged with murder, felonious assault, tampering with evidence and firearm specifications. One of the murder charges was amended to voluntary manslaughter, the others dismissed, and one of the felonious assault charges was amended to improperly discharging a firearm, Chief Assistant Prosecutor Chris Pierre said. Holley was represented in court by attorneys R.J. Budway and Matthew Bobrowski. Messages seeking comment were left for both on Thursday. The case had been set for trial on Oct. 24, according to court records. Elyria police said officers were called to a house in the 400 block of Beebe Avenue shortly before 11 p.m. July 24, 2020, for a report of a shooting. Albright, a former Sheffield Lake resident, had been shot and died at the scene. She was a 2009 graduate of Brookside High School, a graduate of Ohio Business College and had a son. Holley was identified as a suspect and was arrested on a misdemeanor warrant in Ashtabula the next morning, Elyria police said. Detectives picked her up there after an extradition hearing in an Ashtabula County court and brought her back to Lorain County to face charges. Police did not disclose the motive behind the shooting.
