North Ridgeville police Thursday, Aug. 11 4:05 p.m. — Lorain Road, theft. A 25-year-old North Ridgeville man reported that some equipment worth between $1,000 and $7,500 was stolen from his business yard sometime between Oct. 1, 2021, and the present. Tuesday, Aug. 23 9:37 p.m. — Root Road and Lorain Road, operating a vehicle impaired. Anthony Apicello, 33, of Mentor, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI and drug possession charges and cited with a passing violation. An officer on patrol saw Apicello allegedly commit a passing violation, stopped him and determined he was driving impaired. Apicello was booked, cited and released to a sober person. Wednesday, Aug. 24 5:02 p.m. — Downing Avenue, domestic violence. Dane Minkler, 48, of North Ridgeville, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Thursday, Aug. 25 10:17 a.m. — Root Road, domestic violence. Amanda Baker, 32, of North Ridgeville, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. Baker's husband, a 34-year-old North Ridgeville man, said she allegedly slapped him in the face and insisted on filing a complaint. Baker allegedly admitted slapping him and was arrested and taken to the Lorain County Jail. 12:59 p.m. — North Ridgeville High School, trespassing. Kenneth Shaw, 19, of North Ridgeville, was cited with criminal trespass, a misdemeanor. A former student, Shaw allegedly entered the building without permission. 10:03 p.m. — Sheetz, Lorain Road, operating a vehicle impaired. Scott Mangus, 52, of North Ridgeville, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI and marked lanes charges. Officers investigating a citizen complaint about a possibly intoxicated driver found the vehicle, allegedly saw a traffic violation, stopped the vehicle and arrested Mangus. Friday, Aug. 26 10:17 a.m. — Jannie Lane, theft. A supervisor for Ryan Homes reported that building material had been stolen. 1:35 p.m. — North Ridgeville Academic Center, criminal damage. Wally Wowk, 67, of North Ridgeville, was cited with misdemeanor criminal damaging. 2:53 p.m. — Center Ridge Road and Greenlawn Drive, traffic complaint. Halema Najm, 46, of Berea, was cited with not stopping for a school bus, a misdemeanor. 3:01 p.m. — Center Ridge Road and Greenlawn Drive, traffic complaint. A 16-year-old North Ridgeville boy was cited with not stopping for a school bus, a misdemeanor. 6:03 p.m. — North Ridgeville Library, theft. A 65-year-old Akron man reported a theft. 6:55 p.m. — Harris Court, theft. A 32-year-old North Ridgeville woman reported credit card fraud. Saturday, Aug. 27 12:56 a.m. — Sheetz, Lorain Boulevard, theft. Elijah Langenberg, 19, of North Ridgeville, was arrested on misdemeanor theft and resisting arrest charges. Langenberg allegedly stole from the Sheetz and left before an officer arrived but was found at a nearby residence. He allegedly ran from officers and his mother, 38-year-old Sara Langenberg, impeded his arrest. Elijah Langenberg later returned, surrendered and was taken to the Lorain County Jail. Sara Langenberg was cited with obstructing official business, a misdemeanor, and released. 10:58 p.m. — Pitts Boulevard, interference with custody. Donald Kominek Jr., 29, of Amherst, was arrested on a misdemeanor protection order violation. Kominek was accused of taking his son without permission. He and the child were later found in Amherst, the child returned to his mother and Kominek arrested. Sunday, Aug. 28 1:25 a.m. — Pitts Boulevard and U.S. 20, warrant service/drug investigation. Allan Smith, 60, of Lorain, was arrested on a felony cocaine possession charge and a warrant. An officer on patrol reportedly stopped Smith's car after learning he was wanted on a warrant. During an inventory search of the car, a white powder suspected to be cocaine reportedly was found on the driver's seat, and Smith allegedly admitted it was cocaine. 7:32 p.m. — Capri Lane, lost/found property. A bike was found in a backyard in the 36300 block of Capri Lane. It was impounded for safekeeping. Wednesday, Aug. 31 3:14 p.m. — Avon Belden Road and Hedgerow Park Drive, stolen property. Jacob Smith, 20, of Grafton, was arrested on a felony charge of receiving stolen property, and misdemeanor charges of wrongful entrustment of a motor vehicle and having illegal license plates. Smith was arrested after a traffic stop on a car with a stolen license plate. The driver, a 17-year-old Grafton boy, was cited with operating a motor vehicle without a valid license, a misdemeanor. 10:02 p.m. — Schafer Drive, trespass. Jordan Palmerston Peters, 31, of Cleveland, was arrested on a felony charge of assault on a peace officer and misdemeanor charges of resisting arrest, obstructing official business, criminal trespass and disorderly conduct. Peters allegedly assaulted an officer investigating a trespassing complaint.
