Gertrude 'Trudi' D. James-Parks

Gertrude 'Trudi' D. James-Parks, 78, of Longmont, Colorado, passed away unexpectedly Monday, September 5, 2022 at Longs Peak Hospital in Longmont, Colorado with her family by her side. Trudi was born in Springfield, Ohio to D. Benjamin and Elizabeth (Burke) James. She spent her younger life in Akron, where she graduated from Akron Buchtel High School (1962). She attended what was then the Akron General Hospital School of Radiologic Technology and went on to continue her education at Ferris State University in Michigan. Trudi moved to Lorain County in 1971 and began teaching at Lorain County Community College in the Radiologic Technology program. She retired from LCCC in 2001 and continued teaching as an adjunct faculty member until 2018. Trudi was a past president of the Ohio Society of Radiologic Technologists and the Cleveland Society of Radiologic Technologists. In addition, Trudi served terms as the Vice-President of the Faculty Senate at LCCC. She was a longtime member of the former Christ United Methodist Church in Lorain, as well as a longtime member of the Amherst Community Chorus. In 1976, Trudi married Ronald Parks of Lorain and they had one daughter, Suzanne. Suzanne, her husband and their daughter, live in Longmont, Colorado. Trudi moved to Longmont in 2015 to be close to her family. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ron in 1997; her brother, David in 1990; her sister, Ann in 2008 and her brother, Richard in 2021. She is survived by her daughter, Suzanne Parks-Simon and son-in-law, Bret Simon of Colorado; granddaughter, Maeve Simon of Colorado; sister, Susan Corman of Texas; sister-in-law, Mary Ann Ryan of Ohio and fiance', Frank Sobol of Avon Lake. A Celebration of Trudi's life will be held at Lighthouse United Methodist Church in Lorain next summer. Donations to The ROUND PANTRY in Longmont, Colorado can be made in Trudi's memory.
