Lorain police arrest one, seize cocaine, four guns and $40k in cash

The Lorain Police Narcotics Unit, with the assistance of local and federal authorities, seized more than 600 grams of cocaine, four guns, nearly $40,000 in alleged drug money and arrested one man on Wednesday. Jose Correa-Martinez, 32, of West 17th Street in Lorain, was arrested and charged with trafficking more than 100 grams of cocaine, a first-degree felony. A not-guilty plea was entered in Lorain Municipal Court on Thursday. Police served three search warrants simultaneously on three residences on Wednesday following a four-month investigation into alleged drug trafficking by Correa-Martinez. The warrants were served at 505 West Erie, Apartment 102; 1315 W. 17th St.; and 2107 Randall Ave. in Lorain. An AK-47, an AR-15, a .40-caliber handgun and a 9 mm handgun were seized, Lorain police said, along with ammunition and drug paraphernalia. Police said Correa-Martinez has no prior criminal history, and none was found in Lorain County court records. The investigation is continuing and Correa-Martinez and others could face additional charges in the future, police said. The Lorain Police Traffic Bureau and Patrol Impact Team, the Elyria Police Department, the Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force, the Department of Homeland Security and the U.S. Postal Inspector's Office assisted the Narcotics Unit in the case, Lorain police said.
