Road work in Lorain, Eaton and Huntington starts Monday

Upgrades to downtown Grafton streets and sidewalks continue this week, while culvert replacements will disrupt traffic in Huntington Township over the next two weeks, the Ohio Department of Transportation said. Meanwhile, repairs to CSX Railroad crossing in Eaton Township and a three-month road construction project in Lorain are starting next week, according to the Lorain County Engineer's Office and the City of Lorain Engineer's Office. All work is weather permitting. Eaton Township Reed Road, between Capel Road and state Route 82, will be closed starting Monday for repairs to the CSX Railroad crossing, according to the Lorain County Engineer's Office The engineer's office said the repairs are estimated to take three to four days, but CSX Railraod repair schedules are subject to change. Grafton Route 57 in the village, from Mechanic Street to Novak Road, will have periodic lane closures as needed for a streetscape project, ODOT said. Parsons Road is being realigned, sidewalks, curb bump outs, and other pedestrian facilities are being installed. Parsons Road, between Indian Hollow Road and Route 57, will close Aug. 8 for a pavement replacement project. Only local traffic will be allowed. Eastbound motorists will be detoured from Parsons Road to Indian Hollow Road, south on Indian Hollow Road to Route 303, east on Route 303 to Chamberland Road, north on Chamberland Road to Route 57, and westbound motorists in reverse. The Parsons Road portion of the project should be completed by Aug. 20, ODOT said. The whole project should be done by October. Traffic will be maintained with temporary traffic lights or flaggers. Huntington Township&emsp;&emsp;State Route 162, just west of Clark Road, will close for a culvert replacement Monday, ODOT said. The detour route for eastbound motorists will be Route 162 to Route 511, south on Route 511 to U.S. 224, east on U.S. 224 to Route 58, north on Route 58 to Route 162, and reverse for westbound motorists. That portion of the work should be completed by Aug. 5. On Aug. 8, Route 162 between Clark Road and Route 58 will close for a culvert replacement. The detour is the same as above. That project should be completed by Aug. 12, ODOT said. Lorain Shaffer Drive, between Ashland and Oberlin avenues, will be under construction from Monday through Oct. 20. According to the city engineer's office, work will begin in the eastbound lane. The westbound lane will remain open as a one-way street. Once work is done in the eastbound lane, crews will begin work in the westbound lane and one-way traffic will transfer to the eastbound lane. Signs will be posted, the engineer's office said.
