Avon Lake police Thursday, May 26 8:05 a.m. — Belle Road, protection order violation. An Avon Lake man reported his grandson was contacted by someone against whom the boy had a protection order. The boy's father also gave a written statement and the matter was referred to the detective bureau for follow-up. 4:48 p.m. — Jaycox Road, weapons violations. An Avon Lake school district employee called police to report that a 4-year-old student said his brother had a gun. An investigation showed the older brother, age 19, had a BB gun at one time but is no longer living in Avon Lake. The boys' mother said there are no guns in their home. Friday, May 27 5:41 p.m. — Webber Road, theft. A 38-year-old Avon Lake woman reported that someone broke the window of her 2012 Chrysler Town & Country and stole a homemade purse containing $20 cash, a credit card and $100 worth of various gift cards from inside. Saturday, May 28 4:14 p.m. — Community Drive, assault. Officers were called to the 400 block of Community Drive regarding an assault. Monday, May 30 3:46 p.m. — Belle Road, lost/found property. A caller reported an abandoned bicycle near Belle Road and Woodstock Drive. The lime green Pacific Cycle Ninja Turtle bike was placed in evidence. Tuesday, May 31 3:36 p.m. — Jaycox Road, threats. A caller reported a man was sending suicidal messages via Snapchat. Officers made contact with the man by phone and he said he was not suicidal. 3:55 p.m. — Moore Road, death investigation. A 61-year-old man most likely died of natural causes. Thursday, June 2 1:37 p.m. — Sprenger Health Care Towne Center Community Campus death investigation. A 75-year-old woman, a resident at the facility, died. Arrangements were made for a funeral home to take care of the body. Friday, June 3 2:10 p.m. — Fay Avenue, theft. A 66-year-old Avon Lake man reported that an electric scooter worth $200 was stolen. 8:57 p.m. — Sunset Road, suspicious activity. Officers responded to a report that there was an injured woman on Sunset Road. An Avon Lake Fire Department squad transported her for treatment of injuries sustained by a fall in her home. 10:40 p.m. — Dogg House Bar & Grill, Lake Road, operating a vehicle impaired. William Burke, 44, of Tomahawk Drive, was arrested on misdemeanor DUI and reckless operation charges. Officers were called after Burke's 2010 Harley Davidson motorcycle hit a parked car in the parking lot of the bar at 33475 Lake Road. Burke was intoxicated, arrested, booked and released on bond with orders to appear in Avon Lake Municipal Court on June 7. Saturday, June 4 12:02 a.m. — Mulberry Lane, protection order violation. A 21-year-old Avon Lake woman reported that her ex-boyfriend, against whom she has a protection order, had contacted her and her family members. The matter is under investigation. Sunday, June 5 5:40 p.m. — Drug Mart, Walker Road, lost/found property. A 38-year-old Avon Lake woman reported leaving her wallet at the register. The store manager told her the customer in line behind her took the wallet. Police obtained video surveillance footage from the store, but the next day the person who picked up the wallet brought it back to the store and it was returned to its owner. Monday, June 6 12:01 p.m. — Walker Road, theft. A 45-year-old Elyria woman reported someone stole the license plate off her white 2016 Ford Escape. Tuesday, June 7 12:28 a.m. — Coachman Apartments, Moore Road, domestic violence. Officers responded to a possible domestic disturbance at the complex. They spoke with both parties, and the female half of the couple, 39, declined to press charges. The male half, 37, was transported to a relative's home in Lorain for the night. Wednesday, June 8 12:28 a.m. — The Quarry Bar, Lear Road, disorderly conduct. Kyle Hutson, 37, was cited with disorderly conduct by intoxication, a misdemeanor. Officers responding to a 911 hangup call from inside the bar learned that staff had kicked an intoxicated man out of the bar. Hutson was found walking in the back parking lot, yelling, and he told them he was looking for his cellphone in the bushes out back. Hutson yelled at officers when they would not call his cellphone so it would ring and he could find it. Westlake police had a warrant for Hutson's arrest but refused to pick him up. Hutson was informed of the warrant, cited, told to stay out of the bar for the night and released.
