Janik named to Ohio Supreme Court Advisory Committee on Children and Families

Lorain County Domestic Relations/Juvenile Court Judge Frank Janik has been appointed by Chief Justice Maureen O'Connor to a three-year term on the Ohio Supreme Court's Advisory Committee on Children and Families. The committee advises the Supreme Court on the promotion of statewide rules and uniform standards on the establishment and operation of programs for children and families in Ohio courts; the development and delivery of services to Ohio courts on matters involving children and families, including education programs for judges and court personnel; and the consideration of other issues the committee deems necessary. Janik said he is honored and enthused to serve on the commission, is looking forward to serving on this statewide commission and working with fellow commission members to make a difference in the lives of children and families in Ohio and proud to improve how the courts handle cases involving children and families. "During this pivotal time, when we are realizing and experiencing the effects of the COVID pandemic, it's more important than ever to advise the courts how to deal with the trauma to children and families in an informed and uniform way," he said. Janik was elected to the Domestic Relations bench in 2012. He has presided over three specialized courts, including Juvenile Drug Court, Family Drug Court and Juvenile Mental Health Court; he is vice president of the Ohio Association of Juvenile Court Judges.
