Updated Lorain County Public Health data shows latest COVID-19 case, vaccination rates

Lorain County Public Health updated the COVID-19 data on its website Monday, now including the 5-11 age group in its vaccination data for every ZIP code in the county. The Lorain County ZIP codes with the highest COVID-19 vaccination rates among all the eligible population, as of Monday, were Avon Lake's 44012 with 81 percent, Avon's 44011 with 80 percent and North Ridgeville's 44039 with 75 percent. All other Lorain County ZIP codes had a vaccination rate between 50 percent and 68 percent of the eligible population, the data showed. Lorain County Public Health also updated its COVID-19 case rate data for all the county's ZIP codes Monday, showing a countywide average of 4.3 new cases per 1,000 population over the past week. The ZIP codes with the lowest coronavirus case rate in the last week were Oberlin's 44074 with 2.5 new cases per 1,000 population, Avon Lake's 44012 with 2.7 and Wellington's 44090 with 3.2. Lorain County's highest COVID-19 case rate in the last week was in the South Lorain area's 44055 ZIP code, where there were reported to be 6.5 new cases per 1,000 population over the last week. The 44052 ZIP code, which is also in Lorain, had the county's second-highest case rate with 5.9 new cases per 1,000 population over the last week, while the Amherst area's 44001 ZIP code had the county's third-highest rate at 5.3.
