Avon, Avon Lake and North Ridgeville police blotters for Oct. 26 to Nov. 4, 2021

Avon police Monday, Nov. 1 6:23 a.m. — 35000 block Detroit Road, stolen vehicle. An officer responded to the Avon Utilities Department for the theft of a 2011 Chevrolet Silverado with toolboxes and "Kokosing" on the side doors. Two days later, the vehicle was recovered in Strongsville, leading to a 30-year-old Parma man being charged with receiving stolen property, according to a police narrative supplement. Wednesday, Nov. 3 10:36 a.m. — 32300 block Detroit Road, criminal damaging. Police were called to Avon Oaks Country Club for the report of an attempted vehicle break-in. The unknown suspects had fled the scene by the time officers arrived, according to a police report, but officers did make contact with one victim. The suspect vehicle had a Florida license plate, according to the report. 1:07 p.m. — 1400 block Center Road, theft. Officers were contacted about the theft of a wallet with a driver's license and credit and debit cards from an Avon Lake resident that allegedly took place at Culver's. No suspects were identified at the time a police report was completed. Thursday, Nov. 4 10:13 a.m. — 33600 block Lear Industrial Parkway, unauthorized use. Police were informed of the alleged unauthorized use of a 2021 Jeep Compass from Enterprise Rent-A-Car. An unauthorized use charge was signed against a 45-year-old Elyria woman, who was the suspect. A warrant was entered for the woman after the charge was signed by the judge at Avon Lake Municipal Court, according to a police report. Avon Lake police Tuesday, Oct. 26 5:33 p.m. — 33600 block Pin Oak Parkway, traffic investigation. Police were contacted about a tractor-trailer that became stuck in the mud while attempting to back into a business. The vehicle was towed, leaving a large rut in the grass area. Thursday, Oct. 28 7:39 p.m. — Lear Road and Creekside Drive, traffic investigation. An officer pulled over a 2004 Mitsubishi Galant on Lear Road near Creekside Drive and cited the driver, a 34-year-old North Olmsted woman, with driving under suspension and expired plates. She was also advised on warrants through Parma and North Royalton police, according to a police report. A valid driver took the vehicle from the scene. Saturday, Oct. 30 8:29 p.m. — 32800 block Walker Road, suspicious activity. An Avon Lake resident came to the police station to report a possible scam. She said she attempted to purchase a Scottish fold cat from a Georgia breeder but came to believe she may have been scammed after the seller refused a refund and the delivery company refused to send her a picture of the cat. The complaint was to be sent to the city prosecutor to determine if it is a civil or criminal matter. North Ridgeville police Tuesday, Oct. 26 11:23 a.m. — Root Road and Sicily Drive, traffic investigation. During a traffic stop on Root Road for a no-through-trucks violation, an officer determined the driver had marijuana in his possession. The 32-year-old Brooklyn, New York, man was cited for the no-through-trucks violation and possession of marijuana before being released on scene. 10:21 p.m. — Center Ridge Road and Lear Nagle Road, drug investigation. An officer pulled over a vehicle after observing and alleged traffic violation, according to a police report. The driver gave the officer false information but was later identified as a 32-year-old Amherst man, the report stated. He was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia, obstructing official business, driving in violation of license forfeiture and failure to use a turn signal, and later transported to the Lorain County Sheriff's Office on an outstanding warrant. Thursday, Oct. 28 12:31 a.m. — 33100 block Bagley Road, obstructing. Police were called to help the North Ridgeville Fire Department with a medical emergency at a residence. While on the scene, a 39-year-old North Ridgeville man was arrested for obstructing official business and misconduct at an emergency. 7:01 p.m. — Avon Belden Road and Mills Road, operating vehicle while under the influence. After a non-injury crash at the intersection of Avon Belden and Mills roads, officers arrested the at-fault driver, a 54-year-old Avon man, for OVI, excess BAC and an assured clear distance ahead violation. Friday, Oct. 29 2:19 p.m. — 7300 block Avon Belden Road, fraud. A North Ridgeville resident came to the police station to report fraud and theft from her bank account. Police completed a report on the incident, and no suspects were identified at the time the report was written.
