Mildred Greene

Mildred Greene (nee Humphrey), 95, passed away surrounded by her children on Wednesday, October 20, 2021. She was born December 12, 1925 in Green Springs, Ohio to parents Harold and Ruth (nee Henry) Humphrey. Millie was a resident of Avon Lake for 66 years and a longtime member of the Lakeshore United Methodist Church, where she could be seen regularly at spaghetti dinners and rummage sales. She also made flower arrangements for Sunday services. She loved children, especially her grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She also was a babysitter for several families throughout the years. Millie found a lot of joy as part of the Methodist Clown ministry, where she dressed as Baggy the Clown. She was an accomplished seamstress and upholsterer and made costumes for many years for Huntington Playhouse and the Mighty Goliath Productions in Avon Lake, where she is a member of the MGP Hall of Fame. Millie is survived by her daughters, Elaine Teter (Albert) of Elyria and Leah Gercak of Avon Lake; son, Lynn (Patricia) of Avon Lake; seven grandchildren; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Norman; great-grandson, Michael Mullins; sisters, Ruth, Dorothy, Edna, Harriet and Essie; brother, Richard and her parents. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
