Elyria police blotter for Oct. 19, 2021

Elyria police Tuesday, Sept. 28 2:30 a.m. — Elyria Police Department, warrant service. Alexander McKeller, 30, Lorain, was arrested on a warrant through Elyria Municipal Court. Bounty hunters from a bail bondsman handed over custody of McKeller to Elyria police and he was taken to the Lorain County Jail. 7:09 a.m. — East Avenue, domestic violence. Lavell Andrews, 28, of East Avenue, was arrested on misdemeanor domestic violence and assault charges. The victim said Andrews took her car keys from her and grabbed her by the neck, causing minor injuries. He was taken to Lorain County Jail. 8:10 a.m. — Friendship gas station, warrant service. Alicia Karnatz, 31, Delaware Circle, was arrested on a warrant through the Lorain County Sheriff's Office and cited with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of drug abuse instruments. Karnatz was asked to leave the gas station at 41186 Beechwood Drive but refused. She had a warrant out for her arrest and four used syringes and other drug paraphernalia in her purse. She was handed over to the custody of sheriff's deputies. 5:02 p.m. — Sprucewood Inn, disorderly conduct. Yasmin Ortiz, 40, Lorain, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct by intoxication. Ortiz was intoxicated and sitting on a park bench with two empty cans of alcohol under it. She told officers she and her boyfriend had argued earlier in the day at a hotel in Amherst and he had assaulted her. Ortiz was taken to University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center for treatment, then arrested and taken to Lorain County Jail when she became uncooperative and refused medical care. 5:18 p.m. — Midview Crossing Apartment Complex, warrant service. Edward Teague, 22, Middle Avenue, was arrested on a warrant through the Avon Lake Police Department. Monday, Sept. 27 7:42 a.m. — Oakwood Elementary School, breaking and entering. A custodian at the school reported that someone had broken into the vacant school at 925 Spruce St. overnight, broke several windows and opened several others. No property was taken and no damage was caused inside the building. 11:29 a.m. — Midview Crossing Apartment Complex, criminal damaging. A 22-year-old woman reported that someone had broken one of her bedroom windows between midnight and 9 a.m. that morning. 2:23 p.m. — Turner Boulevard, violating a protection order. Lawrence Cooper-Powell, 55, Turner Boulevard, was arrested on a misdemeanor charge of violating a protection order. A 55-year-old woman said Cooper-Powell tried to get inside her apartment by pretending to be a maintenance employee for her apartment building and that she had a protection order against him due to a domestic violence incident in May. Cooper-Powell was found sitting on the floor, arrested and taken to Lorain County Jail. 4:17 p.m. — Lorain County Jail, warrant service. Matthew Trogdon, 43, Lorain, was arrested on a bench warrant through Elyria Municipal Court in a 2020 criminal case. 7:07 p.m. — East Avenue, disturbance. Jeremy Terrell, 27, East Avenue, was arrested on a warrant through the Sheffield Police Department. He was served a summons by Sheffield officers and released.
